Oh, man. When I saw this listed I had to get to it. Because it’s pretty much my favorite song of all time, being such a twisting, turning and winding epic journey. Except for it being nearly 11 minutes long, which means it can never be a casual, everyday listen. Can’t put it on just any old time. But as you heard it goes to so many different places. With so many different tones and feels and sounds. Which is why I often think of it as a bit of sonic journey. Perry Ferrel himself has said he considers this their “Stairway To Heaven”. I don’t think he’s off-base to say that. The antithesis of a three-minute radio single. More like a wildly veering and memorable musical sojourn.

For me (someone born in Germany in 98 ) the chances to discover Jane's Addiction was I think pretty low, but luckily somehow I managed to 😂. Jane's Addiction changed my perspective on music forever and there is nothing I wish more than to be able to see them live even though I know it will most likely never happen because I can't afford flying to North America for a concert 😆. Stephen Perkins is one of my favorite drummers, his way of mixing rock drumming with those African and South American rhythms /percussion is amazing. Next to "Ted, just admit it" Three days is probably my favorite song from them.

I’ve been listening to Jane’s Addiction since the 80s. To be honest, they made me dream of California and leaving the Midwest. And I did. To me, they are just as important as the Doors, CCR, the Ramones, the Kinks, Metallica etc… James changed the game. Bridged punk, metal, psychedelic, funk, and what was possible to sound like. Nobody has come close to sounding like them to this day. A true one off band. I’ll never tire of them.

I’m so glad u finally got to this song David; one of my favourite songs of my youth ….. I think u said pretty much all u can say about the music, tbh; I would just add that my 2 favourite lines , lyrically are : “without game, men prey on each other” & “all of us with wings” …. Btw, this version hasn’t been altered at all as far as I can tell David, just the volume has been increased on the intro; great review, as always 🤘

One of my roommates back in college used to play this album sometimes and this song caught my ear and always stood out to me. It's a great sonic journey with some straight up driving rocking moments - the drumming and then those nice "crunchy" guitar and bass parts, as you said David... awesome. It was cool to hear it again and figuring out that this was that song.

I personally find the live version of this song, (featured on "kettle whistle") much better than the studio version, more powerful, better vocals, every instrument sounds like you actually are there. try it, you won´t regret it.

Another cool reaction. Jane's is such a great band. Underrated IMO, as they were true pioneers of alternative music (better than Nirvana in my mind). Their early records always take me on a journey and fill me with joy. Three days is a true opus, and even at over 10 minutes, It leaves me wanting more when it ends.

Wow, I'm amazed that you were able to stop it for the last section exactly where it was the biggest payoff for the song. Hitting that spot while still in the flow of the song is what makes it so good. You nailed it but didn't really nailed it because everything leading up to that as a single piece makes it a masterpiece. It's epic on it's own but a whole new monster as one continuous piece.

It’s not a 41/2 minute intro. It’s and intro and two or three “verses” Although this song doesn’t have veryse chorus verse structure. It’s verses building on verses! 10 out of 10!if I could give a 12 I would!

A piece of advice to everyone who comments on his posts that he should listen to this or that next, he only takes requests from his Patreon subscribers so your literally wasting your time. Never heard this song either. Very cool , and as someone who used to play bass as well, I really liked the bass sound on this track and the way it was easy to hear for most of the mix.
