But with a lot of anachronisms. Like the fourth-grade graduation ceremony - nobody did that in 1962. And the computer passwords, and the "remote" - nobody would have said, "remote" in 1962. And ceiling fire sprinklers in an ordinary house.

@@ellsay8987 It's not just the technology, it's the language and cultural elements that are out of place. No kid in the 60's would have said, "That was totally wicked!" I consider it the best superhero movie in my book. The comedy isn't forced, the action doesn't take priority over the plot, the cuts between shots are very well timed , the shots are creative, the relationship between the characters are realistic and mature, and the soundtrack is timeless.

Something I never quite connected until now, is the parallel between Mr Incredible's character arc, and Syndrome's. The fact that both of them similarly had moments where something important to them was ripped away, and both had the immediate response of becoming enraged and the temptation and opportunity to start killing over it. That's where their arcs split, Syndrome gave in to that, and Mr Incredible didn't. I think that scene more than anything demonstrated Mr Incredible's strength of character, with the added irony of Syndrome actively calling it out as a weakness in the moment.

One thing that is actually really tragic and moving is how Edna mode hates capes and doesn't design them anymore because of all the accidents and deaths that occurred, she feels at fault because she designed these super suits and she feels responsible for the supers deaths, i cant imagine having the feeling of mutliple deaths on my shoulders. And since she truly loved Bob and his friendship she was being extremely clear about the no capes rule.😢

This period of Pixar was phenomenal, especially because they prioritized telling a story than sending a message, which isn’t necessary a bad thing, but it’s something that Pixar handled especially well when in its earlier years.
@lobachevscki
@lobachevscki 10 ай бұрын
All their movies have a 'message'. I agree their later output wasnt necessarily up to par but if you think their ealier movies werent political or that sending a message and good storytelling are at odds you are just blind.
@lobachevscki
@lobachevscki 10 ай бұрын
Like what do you think A Bug's Life is about???? Finding Nemo is literally (among other things) about critizicing helicopter parenting and letting kids act on their own volition when right now we have parents fighting for 'parents rights' whatever that means. Monster Inc is about resource explotation, Toy Story 2 is about consumerism, Toy Story (and the whole series in general) is about becoming adult and becoming old. Wall -E is blatantly about consumerism and climate change.
@dadaaxel3189
@dadaaxel3189 10 ай бұрын
@@lobachevscki I agree with you. I’m not denying Pixar’s use of messages in their earlier films, I’m just saying that the message has seemingly been prioritized rather than the story itself. I do think that this began somewhat with WALL-E , where the message began to take a bigger role, but I personally think that Inside Out was the first movie for me where the message was clearly much more fleshed out than the story itself. This also bleeds into the idea on why I feel like most modern Pixar films feel more like shorts than full length movies. Especially with their newest movies like Soul, which clearly had a powerful message that the story simply didn’t compensate for.
@lobachevscki
@lobachevscki 10 ай бұрын
@@dadaaxel3189 I believe Soul is a masterpiece, it doesnt need to be heavy on plot to be good, it was a way more experimental film. I think are coming from different directions and see why people feel the output has been subpar lately. I dont disagree with that idea but in my view it doesnt have to do with messaging. Thanks for answering.

Honestly there’s such a grit to this film that you don’t see in other ‘kids’ animations. The second movie is enjoyable, but it completely diverges from the original adult atmosphere. This ‘kids’ film covers crime, suicide, lawsuits, office jobs, propaganda, marriage troubles, suspected affairs, assault, torture, death, and just a bunch of stuff that you wouldn’t usually see. I loved it as a kid because it pushed the boundaries of what a kids film can be.

I once heard about a theory about Edna Modas who was someone who helped the government to eliminate superheroes little by little without raising suspicions because if she knew that they were eliminating superheroes there would be no reason to continue creating costumes with capes for them, so at the same time Eliminate them in this way, there would be no investigations, since they would be "accidents", it is something dark but if we analyze it, it is intelligent and effective

I think the reason he doesnt do construction is BECAUSE it would be perfect for his powers and he doesnt need the temptation, like Magneto working at the factory in X-Men Apocalypse. Theres enough stigma around supers and legal policy supressing them, and if he starts pressing dump trucks it probably wouldnt work out well for them.

Syndrome's base is on Nomanisan Island, which is actually a phrase if you look at it carefully. The well known voices are Craig T Nelson (Mr Incredible), Holly Hunter (Elastigirl), Samuel L Jackson (Frozone), Wallace Shawn (Inurance Co Boss). Edna Mode is supposedly based on Iris Apfel who died recently aged 102 & is voiced by the film's director Brad Bird. The ending of this leads directly into the sequel, in which Jack Jack shows his superpowers!!
