11/15/20 update! I have a pretty bad steering leak in two different points, the major one being in the rack and pinion. it's not terrible, but i refill my power steering fluid about once every two weeks. if it runs out i am physically not strong enough to steer my car :)))) but other than that it's doing great! The adhesive on the plastic casing of the turbo engine hood also detached so that plastic case started slapping against the hood of my car whenever I drove over 15mph, so i sealed it down with packing tape after krazy glue didn't work.

I have pretty much the exact same car, and I love it, but beware, when the turbo goes out, its very expensive, I learned this the hard way, so good luck, and enjoy

Don't be tempted to run it with the power steering fluid run out. Even if you can steer it there is a good chance you could cease the pump at which point it will throw off the serpentine belt and cause the alternator to quit. I know this because my daughter did this and, thanks to the pump being totally scrapped, was an expensive fix (for me of course - cost free to her 8-)= )

Firstly, belated birthday wishes in the year 2019. So proud of you for getting a car on your own at the age of 19.! Its a steal deal for the price you mentioned. Subarus are great cars, I think all their models are all wheel drives. Panoramic sun roof is super 👌. Quite spacious. I wish you did more automobile related videos too, only if you are ok with it. You are quite knowledgeable on its working as well. Most of the people who owns a car just drives it but wont have any clue on its mechanical side. Didn't know alexa has a car version, i need to do some research on that. Awesome video, enjoyed it.

The only thing I had to replace was the radiator after 3 years of having it and that was only around 200 but my mechanic was concerned about my axel so it came out to be 600 all together. This is the first car I bought on my own and it's doing me pretty well. 😁

I bought an 09 Outback for less than 2k though I did have to buy 4 new tires. Mine has just over 220k miles, bought it with around 204k miles 3 yrs ago. Engine still running strong. Only repairs I've done was rear struts, shocks, brake pads(front/rear) and rotors(front). Need front suspension repaired soon as parts are worn out. So overall I've spent around a little over 1k in repairs though nothing with the engine or trans. So tbh I think it was a great purchase. Hopefully it can reach 300k miles.

Just got my first Subi myself and am kind of loving it I think. It came with some issues and so I could be loving it more but that's the world of used cars. To that point I congratulate you on buying used and paying cash. Doing otherwise is usually such a rip off. Anyway, I wanted to offer something I learned about AWD, and particularly Subaru's AWD system, and that is the importance that your tires all match in size, and they even recommend you keep them balanced regarding tire wear, yes that sounded extreme to me but it's true. So if you buy tires at less than 4 at a time as needed, like me, be aware that it is a bit harder on the AWD system if your tires overall diameter differs. This is true not only from side to side but front to back as well. So typically people that own AWD cars replace all 4 tires at a time. "But what if you just have to replace one damaged tire?" you may ask. Apparently some people actually do have the new tire "shaved down", as they call it, to lower the tread depth to make the tire match the overall size of the others. Myeah, not sure I am ready to throw away all that tire I paid good money for either but I suppose that may be a lot cheaper than differential repair work sooooo. Well, I'm just sharing what I learned about this subject that I didn't even know existed until yesterday. I'm thinking it is good to know to at least buy tires that match, at least in diameter, your other ones. Some people might go with two slightly different ones on the back than on the front, etc.. Also a good idea to keep a full size spare tire in it, if you have the room. Maybe just save the best of your old tires, when you get new ones, for that role.

My family and I have a vacation home in the bahamas and we bought a used Japanese version 2006 Subaru outback after having a 1989 Suzuki jeep for over a decade. It drives so well for being how old it is and just being on an island. The only thing id say I don't like about it is how low it is to ground. I just watched this because I just bought a 2004 Outback and was curious what you might share that I haven't already discovered about it. It's kind of an adventure almost just discovering the neat little features all over the car that I didn't first notice. Not all cars are as fun to discover, from someone that has owned a lot of different cars and trucks. I was shopping for a CRV when my buddy offered me this Legacy Outback, still have no idea what's different about a "Legacy" Outback, but when buying parts don't say you have a Legacy, just say Outback, there is a sedan Legacy as well.

Any plastic trim underneath the bonnet (hood) just remove as they're only aesthetic. Make sure you service her every 5000 miles sooner than recommended to make sure engine has cleaner oil sooner than later. I have a manual (stickshift) diesel version (UK option) which when I bought it had 91k miles and now only has just under 97k. No issues with mine as yet. Look after her and she'll do the same to you. Enjoy and stay safe. P.s. im going to convert my forester to do overlanding because your American neighbour in Oregon "SOFTROADING THE WEST". Take care.

@@ob882 cause it’s a turbo Subaru, period. Jokes aside. The 05-09 obxts can be a very reliable, but you really have to watch them and do your own wrenching to affordably own one. Also you have to be very careful buying them, and look out for certain things. For 05-09 I would avoid the 2.5i outbacks they have HG problems. 2.5xts are good if you do a ton of research about them first and are determined to wrench. 3.0r outbacks (h6 motor) are a great choice if you’re not going to wrench, want something with power, and is reliable (HGs aren’t as big of a problem on them) Edit: For specificity: the obxt has a relatively expensive motor which is very easy to destroy and will cost you $4K minimum to address. That on top of many other maintenance items with them. For reference. I’ve owned an ‘05 3.0r outback and currently own an ‘05 obxt

Also, I can understand car repair ills. I remember I had a choice to fly or drive related to my business. I took the Explorer to a local shop and learned it would be $2,600 to fix it. I went and priced out the parts and the tools needed. I was able to fix it and pay for gas, round trip for $500, rather than spend the $2,600. I wasn't motivated to fix it, didn't want to fix it. However, once I saw the $2,000 labor I would save, God knew that was just the motivation I needed to trust him, ask some friends for help, plus a guy in the automotive section at Walmart, and all was well. If it wasn't for God saving me every way, every day, I don't know how we would stay debt free, rent free, no worries. Don't give up, life is better on your knees, trusting God, because you don't need human answers. You need God answers, higher answers, for your lower, human problems. Only God the engineer knows exactly what we need, because he designed us. Humans and Doctors just work-on and replicate us.

I would say be gentle with the throttle, most boxer engine from this era will have a head gasket failure at some point, both my 07 and 05 legacy wagon base and GT (turbo) have head gasket replacement, and the GT engine because of knock and ringland failure, and I don't race both of these cars. if you start smelling burnt oil smell or your radiator fluid looks milky stop driving it before inflicting more damage on the block. Getting a tune "optimize" map would help the engine run healthier as EJ25 turbo engines are known to run rich (note "optimize" not "more power") don't bother with getting any cobb accessport because this is going to be your daily car. Is a very good reliable car if you know how to take care of it but once you start pushing it that is where you going to break the bank more than you need.

I hate to say it but a pretty or nice person no matter what. Their gender always helps. I would definitely give a pretty or nice person no matter what their gender or transgender would be. A better price. Some people come looking for a car looking like junk and you want to give them a junk price because they don't want them driving your old junk lol

You could be ugly AF as long as you got perfume and makeup on or cologne and just worked out. It helps. Trust me all these things help in your life all the time
