All these speeches that I have watch have really uplifted and empowered me. At times I feel like just being quiet and letting things slide. Some things need to be addressed and I shouldn't be afraid to stand on the side of righteousness for my communities sake as well as my own. I truly thank essence for sharing these videos. Sometimes we have to be reminded just how wonderful we are!!!!!!

Stop-Defending BlackSingleMothers if majority of black men weren't cowards, our communities wouldn't be this way!!! That's right, it's black men fault!! I'm not a single mother but if black men stay in the homes then there wouldn't be no such thing as single mothers in black neighborhoods. She wouldn't feel like she has to be independent, can do with out men, and overly strong!!! So shut the fuck up bitch!!!!

I'm that young girl... I've wanted to become an actress since i can't even remember but I doubt myself and I told myself that I'd have to become smaller in order to do it. Since I was 12 I've been trying to lose weight I am now 18 and I've gotten bigger and have gone nowhere with my acting because of self doubt and lack of commitment.

@msgirly68276 жыл бұрын
Z Taco shut up.
@peaceupatowndown64616 жыл бұрын
That's a moronic statement for so many reason. The first and most obvious is that you are saying this on a video of a woman who is wearing her natural hair, and has been doing so since she first debuted her career. Not to mention the other honoree, Issa Rae, and likely countless others in attendance. Second, what is the relation to South Africa, in particular? Besides the sheer ignorance of your comment, please recognize that it is not your place to dictate what Black women do with their hair.
@SuperHadasa6 жыл бұрын
Z Taco South African women wear their hair natural? Take. Seat and then take another. From this beautiful speech all you got was her hair? Do you boo. If natural hair makes you feel smart then good for you, but leave her alone

but she not a mother nor wife..she dosen't promote procreation, marriage, or love children.. asexual stud...outside music, she shouldn't be getting any airplay

One can still love without wanting marriage or children! She doesn’t HAVE to procreate just because she has a vagina and a uterus!
