Won't it evaporate off very quickly? l also saw a reference somewhere to add a bit of salt to make the plate a bit tougher. I tried your recipe and it worked out great but my only issue is that I can't seem to get it out of the tray without it ripping apart.. made it yesterday, left it in a Pyrex dish all night then reheated the whole batch and transferred to a metal pan.. still sticking and tearing. I might have been a bit stingy with the glycerin so I'm thinking maybe I need to add more.. would you recommend that too or am I missing something?
@JanelleNichol Жыл бұрын
Oh that’s too bad. I’m not sure as I have not had any issue at all with sticking. I would say yes, add more glycerin. Other than that, try experimenting with other dishes. I have done metal and glass that have worked. I might have to look into issues with sticking and if I figure out exactly what could be causing sticking I will do a video about that and maybe that will help some others as well that have the same problem.

Hi Janelle How do you clean your gelli plate and do you clean it aftger every use
@JanelleNichol3 жыл бұрын
The best way to clean it is to just keep taking prints until it’s cleaned off. The manufactured ones that you buy can be cleaned off with water or a wet wipe, but not necessary. The ones you make, you can’t add anything to them or they will disintegrate. Either way, it’s always best and easiest to just clean them by taking one final print to clean off all the bits.

Oh yes! That’s how I usually do it. I just added measurements for various sizes to make it easier for people. @JanelleNichol4 жыл бұрын
+Rocking Guitar oh it should definitely be ready the next morning. Waiting a few days won’t help. There must be something that caused it to not “gel” enough. The one I made in this video, is still working great for me! Take a look at the measurements again, and also check the gel powder you used...maybe it’s old or it is not a good quality? That or there is too much other ingredients that is causing the gel to not work. I’ve made many different sizes of this as well but I used this recipe & then poured it into a bunch of molds and pans, rather than ratio the recipe down to a specific size. Hope that helps & let me know how it goes.

Gelatin should ALWAYS be added to water not the other way around. Let it stand to bloom then for a bit. Also 90% alcohol can be watered down to make 70% alcohol. Glycerin is also used to make explosives so that is why some stores keep it in the pharmacy.
@JanelleNichol3 жыл бұрын
No, not ALWAYS. Not when you need a specific amount of dry ingredients but an unspecified amount of wet ingredients. I only need to add water to whatever consistency i desire, therefore the dry ingredients have to be added first because it will not matter how much water there is but it does matter how much dry there is. Also, I’m not baking.

@@JanelleNichol I have used your recipe numerous times and love it, thanks for your hard work in putting this together. Couple thing I discovered, that might help your followers, are tiny nicks and and flecks aren’t really a huge deal, because you mostly are trying to create a papers that have texture, so those impression in the plate just add to it. The other issue was storage. I layered mine on glass in a snap lidded scrapbook paper plastics storage container ( purchased at Costco). Didn’t use my plates for couple of month and when I returned, they were moldy, runny and yuk. A friend had warned me to let air in or keep it open . I lost about 5 different size plates. @@marylynnlaker74 sorry I’m only seeing this now. I store mine in between hard plastic sheets. One on top and one on bottom. I also use plastic placemats.
