Ever heard of nine inch nails? Or pigface? Or skatenigs? Or crash worship? Or fishbone? Or primus? Or butthole surfers? Or ministry? Or Mr bungle??? These bands were at or near their prime at the same time. If you saw any of their shows, you would agree that that time was a smorgasbord of great rock acts. Fuck even sisters of mercy or ethyl meatplow or machines of loving grace put on shows of the same caliber as Jane's addiction. Not taking anything from perry Ferrell & crew, but there were quite a lot of really great acts at that time.

What a show. The crowd here got something I didn't get live, a great performance by the violin player. Perry's dancing is pretty fab. How the band keep it tight with all perry's altering of the delay on his vocals is just nuts. Gibbs Haynes did the same with his vocals interestingly. I think the show I saw was looser and wilder but this is just as electrifying. Loved it!

Thank you so much for posting this. I was there to & it has made my day to see this again, after having seen them last night at Brixton Academy. Last night was the 6th time I've seen Jane's Addiction. I heard them on John Peel in 1990 when I was a fashion student at Newcastle Poly & was so blown away I went to see them by myself at Newcastle Riverside. Then I saw them 10.03.1991 at Newcastle Mayfair, then 15.03.1991 at Brixton Academy - 3 Jane's gigs in 12 days! 5th time was supporting NIN at the 02 and then last night. I remember this was a secret warm up gig. I was doing work experience in the Epic Press office at the time & Matt Reyonds who I was working for tipped me off - THANKS Matt, this gig was the best gig of my life & having just re-watched it I can totally see why - their sheer raw energy was electric.

I saw them at Brixton 1991 - best gig of my life. I remember being carried from side to side in the mosh area near the front - I lost my watch - thought f**k I'll never get it - then 1 minute later a guy tapped me on the shoulder and handed me back my watch intact!

@@stuwilso1 thats SUCH a perfect metaphor for how the mosh was back then. It was violent. brutal. But beautiful. A shared exhale. But when you fell there was always a load of hands that came down and dragged you to your feet with a smile and a hug. I was at this, but also at Brixton. I'll never forget Summertime Rolls at that Brixton gig. We were all one.

I just don't feel that Jane's have got the level of respect that they deserve. There has been so little publicity about their Nothing Shocking 25 year tour on the radio, usual channels. & yesterday no gig day pre-publicity stuff at all, zero, ziltch. Yet when The Pixies were in the UK a few weeks ago there was loads. & makes me depressed to see that there are still tickets for sale for their Manchester gig tonight. Why is this? Were they just to out there to have the radio appeal - intact the only track you every hear (& it's rare to do so) on the radio is Been Caught Stealing. Live there is just not a band to touch Janes.....

The raw power of this is awesome. Thanx for posting. I saw them in Melbourne Sept 91, 1st show ever in oz(?). Wish like hell there was footage of that. The show was postponed 3 months and I think oz was their last destination before they broke up. The first 5 minutes was the most explosive thing I ever saw on stage. From memory they started with had a dad, perry wearing similar to this, braces with a white singlet and fidora. Downed half a bottle of scotch(?) in the first minute (I see him with a bottle at the start of this) and proceeded to tear it up. Crowd had been waiting for months to see them went berzerko. Later in the show he threatened to walk off due to the amount of stage diving.

I was there. I was 18, stood on the step of the floor so just above the madness of that front crowd looking down. I’ve never seen anything so beautiful or brutal. Before or since. Perry had just shaved his head that day and he was liked a sexy pit-bull. Everyone of us, boy, girl, man, woman or whatever, was grabbing at him (as those people he gave the mic to shouted lol). At the end I had my hands up in the air smiling and goofing like an idiot, and Perry smiled at me.

So Jane's has been going strong for the last few years with two different guest guitarists, and then falls apart within weeks after Navarro returns. Do the math. As I heard it, he refused to turn down on stage (my guess is he got some hearing damage from Covid), and Perry was killing himself trying to sign above the din. As someone who played drums for decades of gigs, I can tell you that there were a few lead guitarists along the way who almost got punched for playing WAY too loud

I thought she might have cut herself or something, because he immediately made the Alice Cooper joke about only women bleeding then says "you don't want to see my scars." Says hope she's alright, and immediately brought a towel onto that part of the stage and in a little bit wipes up around there again. I thought she had gotten cut somehow, but who knows. Funny shit was when the girls say they want to fuck him. It's amazing he survived that period when so many of the great front men from back then didn't, and Perry definitely did everything to the extreme, from his drug use to orgies. Dude is 61 I believe now and with the face lift or whatever looks totally different. Anybody know who "Mia" was before the first encore who he brought out to say hello to the audience? Was that another performer from the night?
