You're right Bro. It sux to have to say it bc they were my fav band at one time. I saw them during the Ritual Tour I think in April of 91' I think it was. It was crazy bc it was the first time we saw Perry when he cut off his dreads. He had a crew cut or Cesar type of cut, wife beater, those khaki type pants the Mexicano's used to wear, and he had a fedora type hat or Cuban type. I rememberbeing a little disappointed bc they didnt play 'Ted Just Admit it'. I boughg Porno For Pyros, but that was the end of my interest in anything they put out. After Eric A. left it just could never be the same. J.A. was one of those bands that just had the right mix of guys, at the right time and there was nothing even close to their sound or style at the time.@takecareofyourshoess

Just perfect. Drums so good, bass lines nice and present the tone of a bass, guitar sound and selection of inversions and riffs off chords. Then there is Perry, his voice and that delay... Sublime, poetic and perfect character for the music. Truly inspiring. Without peer. Stupifiying.

Had a vhs bootleg of this Milan performance back in the day when vhs was still a thing… this is Jane’s at their absolute best. Dynamic, in sync, and electric. When they were ON, no band held a candle to them… they brought a brilliance to the stage that made an arena show feel as intimate as a dive bar.

This performance is a breathing piece of art. I keep coming back to it. It seems Perry had effects set up to project a specific mood. Were there fans pointed at them? They look like they’re floating, levitating even. Eric looks airy and ethereal - the combination of his slow gyrating moves, purple dreads, and uninhibited youthful energy. Dave is a quiet powerhouse. Behind his shades, a dark force lies in wait to zap lightning through his guitar strings when you least expect it. Stephen is probably not a person. He’s a collection of air molecules that are only capable of feeling unbridled joy. He makes the drums sound as bouncy and spacious as a xylophone. And the intonation and inflection in Perry’s vocals just blasts you through cosmic rings of angel dust. Not forgetting his id on full display in all its glory at 7:02. He conducts the orchestra and he knows it. Jane’s Addiction at this point in time weren’t a band. They were a glitch in the Anthropocene to disrupt the fabric of reality, so we can feel a mushroom cloud of the most potent of human emotions erupt from our toes and straight out of our brains.

I had tickets to see Janes Addiction at Madison Square Garden in their prime, I was so psyched! I absolutely loved JA. Then I took a hit off a strangers joint while waiting for the show. When the show started, the entire arena started moving rhythmically. Then they came onstage and the arena was bathed in red, and the drums beat hypnotically and the entire place erupted in in some kind of tribal trancelike dance. Thanks to that stupid joint, I got so freaked out. It looked so demonic and evil that I had to leave. I thought it was just me, but my girlfriend felt the same way too. That was the last time I ever took a hit off of a stranger's joint. I think it was laced with something (Angel Dust was popular at the time), because I ended up having to leave the arena entirely and get some fresh air, I got so scared. Long story short. I missed seeing Janes Addiction when they were in thier prime and I regret it to this day.

It’s crazy that of all the bands associated with heroin, Jane’s is maybe the most notorious, and yet none of them passed away. Kinda crazy when you think about all the bands that lost people from it I don’t want to give the drugs too much credit, but holy shit this band is absurdly good here. They were only this good for like 3 years and then fell off a cliff but they were one of the best bands you’ll ever see in this period

Missed them on the Nothings Shocking tour - turned up at 2 of the gigs but couldn't get in... Saw most of the UK leg of the Ritual de Lo Habitual tour though. Parry had cut his hair short and started wearing Chinos by then. Stage set was like the album cover, with voodoo stuff and candles on the amps. Guest fiddler on some of the songs and probably the most memorable shows I ever saw in the 90s. Best band of their generation. Grunge was a monochrome dull downgrade to the psychedelic kaleidoscope soundscape of JA.

He simply isn't interested in making music like "Superhero" and add to that Perry's alleged ego and hunger for control I can't blame him. "Avery: To be fair, I could see how he wanted more than an equal split, certainly. And where we wound up was, we gave him twice as much as any other member, and then we split what was left amongst the rest of us. That was consistent with Perry always going forward to this day. When it comes to money and stuff like that, he's pretty aggressively self-interested. I remember famously Dave played one of our shows after that and put on a t-shirt that said “12%” or something, because that was the amount that was going to be left for him in Perry's system. So it left some resentment, for sure." www.billboard.com/articles/columns/rock/8471762/janes-addiction-nothings-shocking-oral-history-30th-anniversary
