You were SO right about the stitching! I made a 3 tier cake and laid the flag along the side. The one thing that everyone talked about was the stitching! They couldn't belive that each star has stitching in it! Thanks so much for this awesome tutorial!

Hi Janet, can you please tell me the sizes of the two cakes that you draped your flag over?

Thank you so much for the tutorial…Veteran’s Day is coming up and this will really help with my cake project. Can I ask why you didn’t put the stars on before adding the blue drape to the cake?? I’m sure as detailed as you are there is a reason that’s just not clear to me. Also what brand star cutter did you use? Again thank you for sharing this, very helpful…🙂

Your amount of detail is amazing. Your vocabulary suggests that you are either former service or a spouse. Great job. That being said, How many servings of cake would you provide for a dessert only promotion ceremony for 150?

Would it be easier to put the stars on the blue fondant before lying it in the cake?
@JanetBrownCakeRtist7 жыл бұрын
it would take more time and the chance of it drying out . The quicker you drop the blue on the flag, the less likely you get cracks. Also, You don't have to use as many stars. I only put stars on the parts that show. But I am sure you could cover with saran wrap while working and do it that way.

With your ability to airbrush, why don’t you airbrush the stars into the blue part? Is it just for the 3D and effect? Have you tried putting on stars before laying the blue part down?

What brand airbrush machine do you use

I have several that all are great. My favorite right now is my Iwata. I also use a Grex and several Paasches. I don't use a bakery brush or the compressor. Bakery compressors are way too low PSI to get a smooth controlled enough spray for me. I run around 18 psi -especially for fondant, I can even go higher. Luster dusts will look shinier and smoother with a higher pressure. Hope this helps!
