Yeah if anyone has played as the jet trooper Battlefront 2 you can relate lol. You see a lightsaber heroe sprint full speed at you and your jet pack ability is almost recharged so you try shoot the hero because there isn't really anything else you can do. I think you're right, the Mandalorian adds a lot of new context for Jango's scenes in general. Plus, it looks like the blade glanced off his gauntlet and thigh armor before Mace found a spot that wasn't heavily armored.

Mace would have come off a lot more brutal if it had been edited like this. In the finished version, it looks like he just decapitated him in the heat of battle. Here, he mauls him to the point of defenselessness and then kills him when he's unarmed and incapacitated. Damn.

The intent may have been to have Jango block a few strikes after loosing his blaster, a la the brief Mando vs Ahsoka duel in Mandolorian. Or he could have just lost both arms and then his head in post-production. We’ll never really know.

Form VII was meant to be ferocious, Windu killing his opponent makes sense especially when you consider he’s the only one to have mastered the form and not fallen to the dark side.

There is a reason why Windu gives a clear warning before the start of every battle, he doesn't want to kill anyone, but if he has to draw his saber, he will. He is the only Jedi to use the most lethal form of all combat styles, the VII form, Juyo/ Vaapad, is a form created to destroy the enemy, not to defend or disarm him.

The comics always make all the fan favorites too powerful. Boba Fett once had a lightsaber duel with Vader and almost beat him which is ridiculous. Movie Jango could barely hold his own against Obi Wan by himself. I could see him killing a jedi every now and then during a contract or something but no way he'd kill 10 jedi at once without a blaster.

He was a typical Jedi Consular: More focused on diplomacy and Force usage than lightsaber combat. Consular class Jedi died the most during the Clone Wars, while Guardians fared the best. At that point, the Sentinels/Shadows were down to only a few members total, but those who did exist, such as Quinlan Vos, fared pretty well.

It allows for them to do complete slashes 'through' their opponents and stabs 'into' their opponents on-set during filming, and then later on the FX team extends the blade and does the work to make the slash look to have done damage. 300 is another example of this.

Windu shows here both his skill and his determination to kill. First he slices Jango's blaster, then the flamethrower on his left hand and then he wounds a leg of Jango's before going for the kill. IOW, disarm your enemy, cripple them, kill them. Efficient, but not Jedi-like. They shortened the scene probably so that Windu wouldn't seem like a methodical killer, but rather like someone carried away in the heat of battle.

2 things it took me a while to realize: 1. Jango's jetpack gets damaged and he tries to activate it to get away from Mace. 2. You can see the shadow of his head fly out of the helmet.

This makes so much more sense than the final version. In the cut frames, we see that Jango was clearly shocked that his jetpack was broken. In the final cut, you only notice on your second viewing

Fun fact: Mace wanted to cut off Jango‘s legs, that‘s why he looks so surprised after he cut off his head. He expected Jango to be much higher because of his Jetpack, but the jetpack broke a minute before when Jango fighted with a beast
