@JanomeJAI Жыл бұрын
Millie, what machine model do you own? in the Standard Accessories listing in your instruction manual, each foot is listed along with the one or two letter code along with the longer name. the OD foot has a 1/4 guide and is for quilt piecing, the SD foot is the ditch quilting foot, and the AD foot is the basic foot (compares to your zigzag foot ). The Dual Feed feet are meant to be used whenever you have layers, or something slipperly like a thin fabric to sew. The HP feet are there to give you a perfect 1/4 piecing.

In the manual it says to push the dual feed key, which greys out most stitches, including all zigzags. I noticed you were doing a zigzag stitch at one point, so I’m confused. Can you use the the dual feed device (which appears to be the acufeed device) with all its features such as the balancing dial, without using the dual feed key?
@JanomeJAI5 жыл бұрын
Great question! To get the best straight stitch sewing with the AcuFeed foot we recommend pressing the Dual Feed Key. However, other stitches like a basic applique, zig zag, serpentine, and others, can also be utilized with the AcuFeed foot in place. We do suggest using caution when selecting decorative stitches that require a lot of back and forth movement under the needle as these don't receive any value by using the AcuFeed foot over the appropriate applique or decorative stitch foot

I want to use the wide acufeed foot OD. I don't know which stitch I'm supposed to use. It never shows the OD foot. Do I just use stitches that show the O foot? I'd prefer that it tell me which stitches are available per foot, rather than guessing a stitch and having it tell me which foot to use.
@JanomeJAI2 жыл бұрын
DeAnna, the OD foot is a foot with a 1/4" guide, which is typically used for piecing fabric. This video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oXbbZqB7aNCqeJY is an overview of Janome's 1/4 feet, the AcuFeed OD foot is featured at the end of the video. When you use the AcuFeed system with your machine, you do need to make sure to engage the system - please see your individual machine's instruction manual for how to do this on your model.

@@JanomeJAI I have the 6700, What does it mean to engage it? Just install the foot making sure it's plugged into the back of the machine?
@regenacarlevaro67972 жыл бұрын
@@deannas1515 , yes that is the main point, making sure that it is plugged into the mechanism at the back of the foot. However, if you wish to have more control on how the AcuFeed foot feeds, you also want to make sure the Dual Feed button on your screen is turned on. Although only straight stitches will be available, this will allow you to change the rate of movement on the upper AcuFeed foot using the dial on the far right side of the machine. What this means for you, is if you are sewing satin to velvet, you can make sure that both types of difficult fabrics are feeding beautifully together. Hope this helps!
