You are an amazing teacher. This tutorial was wonderful. I watched one the other day where they added corner pieces but I prefer this way more. I'm going to try it on a small project I'm working on. Thank you so much ❤

Great! Would like to see a close up shot series of the finished binding stitch! As well as a printable to refer to! Also an option to sew in hanging corners on the back so a dowel can be put in to hang the piece for display.

This is a great skill to have. Since I have a lot of pain in my hands and can no longer hand sew, I just make my facing quite a bit narrower so that only about 3/8" shows on the flip side and then carefully machine sew the facing down. This still leaves a very clean and crisp edge with the stitching from the narrow facing practically disappearing on the front side. Alternatively, I have done the whole process backward with the final stitching on the top side of the quilt which leaves very nice, narrow border around the edges.

instead of hand stitching, you could use a fusible web type product like steam a seam to secure the facings

I like this technique and you had me all,the way to the end…but I am not fond of hand stitching a big quilt. I machine bind due to arthritis in my hands and it’s faster.

I have faced two quilts, and can't wait to try your method. I believe it is a better method than I used, but my wall hangings looked goregous with facing and not binding. I think I am going to start facing my quilts! Thanks so much for this video!

Hi. Thanks for this tutorial. I have 1 question and 1 critique. Can you share how I can add a hanging sleeve while facing the quilt? My critique is that there isn't enough contrast between thr front fabric of the quilt and the facing fabric. The camera shot is at a distance that makes it difficult to see the impact. Thanks again.

I think it could be cute if you did it backwards if you WANTED some "binding" to show on front , but without mitered corners!

How do you put a sleeve in the back for a rod to hang it on the wall. Jean
@JanomeJAI2 жыл бұрын
Jean, with a faced quilt you need to pin or hand stitch your sleeve to the back of the quilted piece so the stitches do not show from the front. Happy Sewing!
@sharshort36072 жыл бұрын
Nice method, but not sure how to add a hanger.
@JanomeJAI2 жыл бұрын
Shar, that would depend on what type of hanger you are planning to add - if you are interested in adding a sleeve-type of hanger, we recommend hand stitching it to the back of the quilt. We're sure there are other resources online that may solve this problem for faced quilts.

Can a person not make the facing to show on the front of the quilt
@jenniferdavey54015 ай бұрын
A facing like this is intended to give a clean edge/no show on the front of the quilt although there are a few options you may want to entertain...depending on your desired look, of course are traditional binding or even a wide binding would do the trick, Self Binding - using your backing pulled around the front, or if you desire you could put facing on in reverse.

Couldn't you just leave enough room in the backing to turn it over to the front instead of adding more fabric for the facing?
@Mickey-jn8hz7 ай бұрын
You could do a fancy stitch and it would look nice on the front. I hate hand stitching….
