I'm glad you had success late season on public (seeing deer and bucks). I experienced nocturnal activity on public, late season here in the MO. Pressure was number 1 reason. Missouri Public Lands are blowing up with human activity. I swear when you guys first started, public land was not "the thing"...Now, I can't even find a place not pressured. You all have learned so many people. I wonder if you all realize the way you all have changed the game now. You all are the trend, the way, the new standard! Sucks for me but I still appreciate you all!

Very relatable. I’ve been hunting northern Alabama all week through this freeze. I learned that rangefinders don’t like the cold and I laugh at all the disposable hand warmer packages in my truck. I had a nice buck duck the string this afternoon at 35yrds. He had moved 3’ by the time my arrow arrived. Still plenty of time. You guys are awesome THP.

I know you boys are all about representing the public land hunters with less than ideal situations and what not (and we appreciate it), but the sitka fanatic jacket is well worth the money for a late season bow hunter. I shot a doe last weekend with 3 base layers on (only one was a wool “warm” base layer), the sitka traverse hoodie and the fanatic jacket. Single digit temps with 20+ mph wind and I was relatively unbothered

I think when the weather gets extremely cold, a small portable ground blind, like a Doghouse, is the ticket. It blocks off the wind and the blowing snow or rain, allows you to move to film undetected, and also reduces your scent. I don't really enjoy hunting out of them that much, but for late season and bitter cold weather, they will keep you in the game. Also, those type hats Arron has on are amazingly warm.
@usernamehere6061 Жыл бұрын
Never heard anyone suggest an enclosed blind for late season wow you just changed the game for me
@Kurtdog63 Жыл бұрын
I would much rather hunt a tree stand for the view, but blinds are a great tool when the weather sucks. If you are bow hunting, it is good to practice shooting out of one, because it is a little weird to draw and shoot out of a window. Also, if your blind is brand new, I put mine up in the yard for a week or more to let the chemical factory smell get out of it. The Doghouse blind is a small circle pack on your back and much easier to haul around than the big hub style. Also roof won't collapse under snow weight like a hub style blind. @@usernamehere6061

I have been using the adhesive toe warmers in my baffin felt packs pretty much just as you are. I also use them the same way in my flip off mitts. One stuck to each side of the Mitt part with your fingers in between. Works great and you do not need a muff or other gear. The only issue is the toe warmer don,t last as long as most hand warmer so you have to carry extra. If anybody thinks it does,t get cold here in BC in the late season the would be very wrong!

Late season hunts sure separate the dedicated hunters on public land from the grocery shoppers on private land and don't get me started on the costco of deer hunting, the outfitter ranches. Exposed, freezing your huevos off, no grunts, snort-wheeze, decoys etc., it is pure raw hunting. Respect mi amigos.

There is something to that Warb, deer eat corn when it’s really cold out cause it helps them stay warm longer than any other resource they have this time of the year. The corn ferments in their belly creating internal heat. Ever heard of corn whiskey?

Buy a kids camo sleeping bag. Rolls up small and light. Slip into in your stand, goes up to your waist. You can still stand with it on, just need to be a bit careful. You will get the hang of it over time. Keeps the heat in and blocks the wind on lower half.

They prefer corn over beans, when the temperatures drop hard... because corn 🌽 creates heat'.. in a deers body... Hence the same reason why they stay away from eating corn in hot weather or extreme heat... Even if there is a pile of it in from of them...they will go for the browse and the greens first..😊
