Back in the ‘50’s & early ‘60’s we kids were always very happy on days like this. It meant school were closed that day. We’re in Ontario Canada.

I thought in the 50's and 60's you had to walk 5 miles through 3 feet of snow through a corn field to go to school.

I’m in southern Ontario which is inbetween the Great Lakes. During the winter a snow squall can come off from any direction. Particularly Lake Huron with the winds from the west and northwest. When the water is warmer or colder then the air a snow squall can form.

Vancouver, Washington State here, last good Snow storm we had here was January 2016. The Weather dude lied to us and said, "Na, it ain't gonna come." well it did. We got a whoppin 8 inches of snow in about 4 hours which is crazy for us. I swear if we get lucky just to get a 1 inch of Snow the News goes crazy and half the city shuts down. It cracks me up laughing.

We had the same snow squall come thru Black Ash Pennsylvania. It was very similar to conditions in your video.

Nothing scary about it squalls move quickly and are small in size and combined with the fact that they happen well below freezing means it wont cut power or get u stuck in ur house

Yes..its a narrow squall front..they are relatively rare, but produce a lot of snow in just a few mins..they generally don't last more than 30 mins. they sometimes are accompanied by thunder and lightning.

Where I live , that would be considered a dusting of snow. Buffalo, ny. But we also get a ton of false reports of bad weather because it happens in the south towns and no where near Buffalo. For the most part , over the years our winters have become quite mild over time. Nothing stays the same.

The fact it looks like Spring at the beginning of this video is the reason why this Awesome Squall developed. It looks like Spring because it had been unseasonably warm throughout the entire region before this event, for a period of time. Perhaps, a 'January Thaw' type of event had happened. Lake Erie was 'hot' as heck compared to the air mass that quickly came down from Canada and then wham!
In Scotland we just stay in when it does this.....not so much these days of course.
