Hi AJ, it can be expensive collecting when someone is a completionist, as it means buying some films/series that aren't as good/enjoyable just to complete sets! Steelbooks and Collectors Editions has helped to boost physical media purchases vs the streaming industry. It's honest of you to talk about finance and I'm sure what you said resonates with other collectors.

I think I’ve buried my head into the sand of the cost for far too long. It’s never something I have looked at after the fact. Only then does that reality hit. I’ve never collected a complete line of a release ( example HMV premium collection. Titans of cult etc ) so beyond being a completionist for a series of film - I’ve never been one just because a line is numbered or the like. So I’m lucky in that sense. But That hasn’t stopped buying films I find less enjoyable and not as good. Have made some big mistakes just for the sake of the buy

Not that I’ve got into trouble or the like ( financially ) I’ve only ever worked with what I have available. But the reality does indeed hit when after 4 weeks you add it all up. It certainly makes you think when you open the wallet for the next purchase

I need to get The Cell. I wasnt like a super huge fan of it, but I like it enough. I might get the bluray version though. Great grabs. For the month of January I under spent. I usually give myself a $100 limit, only spent about $60.

That’s good going 👌 TBH when arrow release a 4K and Blu-ray at same Time - the Blu-ray being from the 4K scan is generally good enough. I think it was just habit that made me choose the 4K over the Blu-ray. Logic would tell Me to pick up the other way. I should attempt that moving forward ( with the exception of deep blue sea

No laser discs or custom slip covers this month 😅 Air force one is a great film. I picked up Debt Collector (Scott Adkins) 1&2, 48 hours and True Lies on blu ray and Sniper and Youngblood on dvd.

@@bal5884 the custom slips I won’t venture into now. I now consider that a waste of money. And alas no laserdisc 😂. There’s always next month 😂 Air force one is indeed a decent flick. Blimey. You picked up almost as many titles as me this month. 😱 but I’m sure yours were a fraction of the cost - and you felt all the better for it

Yeah, True Lies was £9.99 new, 48 hours £6.99 new, two Adkins films were £8.90 used, Youngblood £5 and Sniper about £4, I sold a few things on ebay so they cost me nothing really. Been selling a few tapes as I've upgraded to blu ray or dvd. Also picked up an old LCD TV for free to watch the blu rays on, will do for the time being, watched Kickboxer on it last night and Bloodsport is on tonight, take care mate

Lol Paul I think by the time the cell came out everybody had had enough of serial killer films and Lopez. I think sky cinema had it recently but you had to download it. It's the kind of film that might get on film 4 in the uk, but some of the imagery is very disturbing. An acquired taste. but 4k worthy, nope definately not, but the U.S. released Howling 2 on 4k as well. Lol.

Yes I reviewed Memory when it came out and mentioned the similarities. This came out maybe 8 months before that I believe. Maybe even late 2023 in some places ( or made in ‘23 released Jan ‘24 ) Difference between the 2. This is 100x better ( imo )

AJ as you know I only collect TV shows on DVD, I get paid on the 28th each month, and my limit is around 150.00, no more it's hard if you see something else you want, but I just wait, once I retire in just under 7 years I know I won't have as much funds so I have an end game to complete my tv collection before I retire, thats my plan, 150 per month on dvds seems alot but I don't smoke, don't drink, I know people wound spend that much a week on cigarettes, that's the way I think about it and yes do I watch all I collect absolutely not but nice to wait when I have more time once retired 😂

Yeh I don’t smoke or drink either. And it’s a way of justifying for sure. I think I have to be careful not to go too far into the territory of NOT spending. I think when my retirement comes also - I will need that time to all my TV stuff also. So much I want to revisit from back in the day. Mine is obviously further off than yours. But I’m prepared for that drop in income. And stopping ( it could happen before then. ). But I’ll have enough and be happy

@outpost3178. Matt from Matt v movies told me yesterday Time cop was getting a 4k. And my initial thoughts were. Decent film. Enjoyable. Have the Blu-ray ( upgraded from dvd ) never actually watched the Blu-ray. So what’s the point in getting the 4K. Would be silly 🤷🏻‍♂️ Then what I should do is watch the Blu-ray to assess if worth the upgrade. But then bacause I’ve just watched it when would I watch agian ( so again no point picking up the 4K ). So IF I did have the urge to watch again after that. Get the 4K ( years down the line ) for next to nothing. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Don't you get 3 points on your license for each offence? That will bump up your insurance. And you have to attend speed school? They are taking the urine, how fast were you going over the limit ?Thank god I get the bus, it's getting beyond the joke on drivers.

One offence is speed school ( costs £98.20 ) no points Next offence was £100 And 3 points. I was 6 and 7 mph over respectively. It is what it is. As for insurance. Little to no impact as the car is in wife’s name. I’m just a named driver on it

@@ajsmovieplace Speed cameras a fair cop so to speak, but the van cams are sneaky. Only had one speed ticket and one ticket for a double yellow line. "Can you not see the sign it is a double yellow line?"😃The guy was of the same nationality as the one portrayed in the film anuvahood and he and his fellow employees did laugh with much merriment at my protests😄😄😄funny looking back, totally forgot about that😄😄😄think it was an 80 pound fine, might have been red route no stopping thinking about it. All amounts to the same, swings and roubdabout😄😄

You’re controlling the vehicle - if you decide you go faster that’s on you. If you lose concentration ( as I did. ) still on you ! But yeh the van. I just came around a corner. And BAM 💥
