Mine is about 3 years okd, got a super hitech one with a shutter that opens& closes. Recently it keeps doing errors

Every time i turn mine on, it changed to a blinking h and 68 and i have no idea why or how to fix the damned thing

It will be an error code. Google the make and model of the heater and h68 and see what comes up.

It is a safety feature in case you starve of oxygen. You cant turn it off.
