Back in the day we used paddles for that sort of gameplay. Check out Kaboom for Atari 2600, while not a rhythm game it is a crazy catch the bomb style game requiring moving something across the screen in an analog manner which the Atari needed the Paddle controller for. You could use an analog joystick like this design if you really wanted to, but you'd have to build it first as I don't think anyone in the day manufactured one of those for consumers.

The taiko drumming game for switch is hard, motion controls make it so when I pull up, it does a second hit. Upward movements shouldn't count, right? Unless I am misinformed on how drums work.
@NihongoGamer6 жыл бұрын
that doesn't sound right. is there a way to calibrate the motion controls?
@RECTANGLESWITHEYES6 жыл бұрын
No , sadly the motion controls aren't responsive as it is supposed to be, and while playing with motion controls the game automatically disables the colors, which then you only need to drum the rhythm with the motion without hitting red or blue side, which again you can't turn it off, besides that the game is great.
