I had the wonderful opportunity to enjoy this fun and unconventional dorm fest.
Japan is known/though to be a peaceful quiet and ordered country, with enormous social pressure and low tolerance towards uniqueness and "non ordinartiy". Is this actually true? I'd say there is some true to it but despite its apparent oppression, creativity has always thrived. An clear example would be Nitendo, Studio Ghibli and anime in general, the constantly evolving and creative food culture, etc.
Today I want to share bits of one of the most unique dorm in Japan, the Yoshida Dorm. It was founded about 100 years ago and has kept its essence ever since. It is still managed by the students, with little to no intervention from the University, and of the greatest things for me is the 100% genuine openness and welcoming vibe everyone has. Gender, ethnicity or personal beliefs have zero relevance in this environment which makes it a cozy and safe environment. It is also very messy so it might not be for everyone but, if you're looking for an alternative setting to enjoy some music and have good conversations, I'd totally recommend you drop by. They host events every now and then!
