make sure you have some cash on hand! we also carried our passports with us, which came in handy for tax-free shopping

tax free stores are usually big retail chains (don quijote), luxury stores, or department stores. we just showed our passports at checkout and paid the tax free price on the spot. have an amazing trip!!

Do you show your passport while tax free shopping or do they ask for it?

yes! i carried my passport throughout the trip and they do ask for it when you check out

Shibuya and Tsukiji are the dirtiest streets in Tokyo, so I suggest you go to a more sophisticated and clean city.
