@humann56824 жыл бұрын
@marcos farias Honestly people go on about that but it didn't make a big difference. It was a lot of the same thing even with more attacks a available. At this level, these guys are professionals in very competitive programs. They don't want to lose their funding or spot on the team, so they play it safe. The only way to change it is reward attacking play more instead of penalising negative play. The current approach encourages strategies around shutting the other guy down, rather than encouraging lots of committed attacks.
@humann56824 жыл бұрын
@@emperorjimmu9941 Judo wasn't exciting when leg attacks were allowed. It was the similar sort of thing. IMO one idea would be to reward attacks instead of penalising for negativity. It's too easy for these guys to trap their opponent so they cannot attack, and then watch them wrack up penalties. Another controversial idea is to change the scoring system to make it more like BJJ. No more ippons. People get 5 points of an "Ippon throw" but it doesn't end the match, 3 points for a wazari throw, 1 point for every 5 seconds opponent is pinned to a max of 5 points, then the ref stands them up again. Only way to get and instant win is a submission.

I noticed in the first match, the Korean had a higher yellow bar than the Japanese man and the Japanese man won the match. So, is the yellow bar some type of penalty?
@TheDevilThatYouKnow18 жыл бұрын
+Dylan Compton it's a penalty for passivity aka failure to attack. In judo competition you have to constantly be on both the defensive and offensive. If you sit back and do nothing you will get a penalty. there are many other types of penalties that will result in a yellow card, such as illegal grips or other things. but 95% of the time they are penalized for not attacking at the end of the time if there is no score or tied score, whoever has the least penalties wins.

Basically the first one to get a point (ippon) wins. The main ways to get a point are a powerful controlled slam that lands the opponent on their back or a submission or hold a pin for 20 seconds. If the land on the front it doesnt count and if they dont start trying to work they're stood up. The little yellow cards are penalties for not being active enough, in this case the time ran out on most matches and the person with the least penalties won.
@Nostromo_TK4 жыл бұрын
