As a newbie to SF6 (30 hours in I’m a Gold Juri) I think of Luke as the Es or Izayoi. Others might have a higher ceiling of potential, but as of now Luke is just so solid.

@@AJMurdoc Izanami, Rachel and Carl are definitely top 3 but Izayoi placement and ceiling is debatable. No one ever been able to play Izayoi to her fullest and some people tend to say she's top 5 in the game and could be better than any other character except maybe the top 3. But since her ceiling is incredibly high and no one wanting to commit playing this character we will never know. Though she is a character with very few weakness close to none with arguably no bad matchup and a long list of strengths. Her current tier list placement is only because no one has been able to play her correctly at a very high lvl except SKD so far and he's been playing her for so many years.

I gave up on 6 because I’m not liking newschool fighting games as they seem to just be all about hitconfirming and mental stack.. not nearly as much about the psychology of your opponent or just general spacing… both of those are still strong but o it once you have your one hit confirms and fast wiff punishes down and once you have your muscle memory developed enough for the mental stack. I felt it becomes too much like a sport and not enough like just a fun time where I can hit a lot of buttons perfectly spaced and have 2-3 options that will beat most of my opponents options. I find these games more about move rotation rather than actual strategy (move rotation is a strategy though but it just isn’t one I appreciate or have fun with) I think these sorts of things are here to stay so my time of being a (decent) fg player are done. It was fun while it lasted.

@@roncrudup2110 Seriously. I tried messing around with Modern fairly recently. I couldn't DP on Modern to save my life. My Classic DP reactions were much more honed in, and I could vary the strength used. Also for Supers, much easier for me to buffer it then figure out which button combination the Modern super was. Not to mention the loss of buttons used in my bread and butter combos, lack of mixup options or oki or meter management as a result.

That can't be true, that a self fulfilling prophecy fallacy or mode average misreading stats. If everyone thinks this character is the best and they all playing or pocket the character then the system would generate Luke matches. I'm not saying Luke isn't strong but come on the logic says you will eventually loose because it's impossible to win all and it will be to Luke if everyone plays or pocket him. I think what you guys means their isn't a definitive answer or bad match up to Luke except the player.

Call me mad call me stubborn I still think Ken has the sauce. Got not horses in the game I main neither, but Ken's diversity in winconditions is just ridiculous. Luke clearly is the guy to beat when it comes to tourney gameplay 101, but I think come capcom cup finals the best Ken players are gonna be pulling out all the stops and it'll distinguish the two

I don't know why people doubt luke being the best character in the game, I just don't see how he can be anything but the best character in the game, he excels at everything, he's amazing at long range, amazing at mid range, amazing at close range, he has insane damage output for very little, has plus frames and setups that forces you to guess without having to spend a lot of resources, and on top of that, he is probably the strongest burnout character too, he has little to no downside to spending all his drive and getting burnout since he is gonna be on the offensive and he literally takes half your health or more when spending his drive, his punish game is a cut above the rest, he doesn't even feel like a street fighter character, he feels as if granblue gran suddenly pop out in street fighter 6, then we have modern luke, a completely different beast, luke just excels at everything and is weak to nothing, although I don't think he is invincible or toxic to the game, I do believe that the other top tiers just lose on certain situations where luke is at worst goes even.
