Merry Christmas Shizuka. I would love to visit this area it looks really fascinating. Great to think you can do something new without loosing the old atomasphere. Unfortunately it's new fame will mean once again it will be loved to "death", and Japan will loose another little bit of it's uniqueness. Cheers Muffy from Australia.

I lived there in the early '80s. The moment I stepped out of the ticket gate, I fell in love with it. Visited it again in 2024. Have to say it has changed not for the better, IMO. , Large apartment complexes that have gone up, resulting in a lot more foot traffic. Spacious single residences replaced by box homes built right up to the streets. The spacious Himonya Park that used to have nice open feeling and grass area has been, I think, been replaced by a baseball field with fences/tarps at least tens of meter high . Cozy, low-key stores and restaurants replaced by "trendy" places. Overall, I feIt claustrophobic and disappointed at the changes. A tribute to progress, right?
@OnceUponATimeInJapanM8Күн бұрын
Nice area that’s not (yet) overpopular, but definitely a stretch for Timeout to rank as cooler than nearby areas of Daikanyama, NakaMe, Jiyugaoka, Shimokita, Sancha, etc etc. “Relatively unknown, cool neighbourhood” would be a more appropriate designation…
