Late Jōmon period was about 3000 years ago for wet rice (paddy farming techniques) but according to Wikipedia some dry rice farming may have actually started in the early Jōmon period (about 6000 years ago!)

According to wikipedia, the Mongol empire controlled less than 18% of all the land in the world. Only the British Empire controlled more, with over 26%.
@whocares3577
@whocares3577 3 жыл бұрын
It's really ambiguous really. British empire counts lands that they never set foot until after WWII for their land like middle of Australia or Canada but Mongol empire does not count whole of Siberia as their land which was technically in their rule just like British with their lands

Hi I know im late to the video but I was curious if Yuka had ever heard the song Shiroyama by the band Sabaton its about the Satsuma rebellion. They are a sweedish metal band who sing (in english) about history, I was just curious because you said you were from Satsuma. They also have a video on their Sabaton History youtube chanel talking about the history behind the song. Thanks for the awesome reaction!

Hi sk8thewater, thanks so much for sharing the Shiroyama song by Sabaton about the Satsuma rebellion, it was a pretty epic track! It was really interesting to watch their Sabaton History YT channel about the battle of Satsuma! I've been to see the Saigo statue in Kagoshima, so I know a little bit about the Satsuma rebellion, but Yuka had a lot more exposure to the history when she was at high school in Kagoshima! Thanks for watching, sharing and commenting! Daniel and Yuka :D

So, Zen Buddhism was _kind of_ like Buddhism's version of the Protestant Reformation? Meaning separating the church from the state (like Catholicism basically was in Europe for centuries).

The explosion of kawaii culture in Japan is also part of its history. Mainly it "defanged" the country as a kind of reaction to the horrors of the war and to provide a more peaceful image. The culture made a sort of pendulum shift in the opposite direction as the whole notion of a warlike Japan became taboo. Not to mention their constitution drafted by the US which forced them to limit their military spending to almost nothing. It actually began way earlier in the 1960's and 70's.

I would say its because of Chinas growth over the years why Japan isn't that important anymore and face an economical downfall. China produces a lot of technical and medical components for all of Europe and the US way more cheaper as Japan and Japan is related to chinese imports of technological material too. Between the 1980 and to the end of the 1990s China was still in development and slowly builded a kind of stability, while Japan was already on its peak. After 2000s China figured out to raise its industrie very fast and also opened itself for western companys and trades. The Growth was so hughe the US was worried about thier influence and China also invaded thier neighbours like Tibet and Parts of Mongolia and put the Uigurs into labor camps. Now they want Taiwan and are friends with Russia which invaded the Ukraine, and before that happend Georgia and the Krim. Also India and Singapore had a hughe growth in the last 30/40 years. That all combined is a major factor why Japans economy is down. Its is not only because of the growth of the population, cause the people get older and could work longer, its because they lost its position beeing an important inport/export partner for the west. The west want it cheap and fast and China and India are able to produce cheap and fast.

Something that baffles me, we fellow religions where most of the gods characters are worst than the average human but we say these gods are loving and merciful. if any human behave like the god of the bible he would be called up on criminal charges, not to mention all these other gods, lol.
