"Dango" in Japanese actually means "dumpling”. The name of the Japanese drama derives from the idiom 花より団子 hana yori dango, which literally means "Dumplings rather than flowers", meaning that the practical is preferred over the aesthetic (just like Doumyouji was in the movie). However, they changed the word dango with a homophonous word 男子 which means "boys" => boys before flowers. And yes, Makino worked in a dango shop ;)

dango dango dango dango dango daikazoukoXD Clannad. The japan version of boys over flowers is Hana Yori Dango. Hana is flowers and Dango is boys/the food you guys are eating. Boys/Food over flowers :))

I LOVE DANGO!! One of my favourite few childhood memories when I was growing up in Japan every year during the Sakura festival, my father would buy dango for my brother and I. We would then eat under the blossoms..... Such peaceful innocent times.....lol I miss japan :(
