Japanese Food Tour of Osaka - TUNA BELLY (Otoro) That Will Melt-In-Your-Mouth!

Day 3 in Osaka was all about the tuna belly!
0:19 Osaka Castle - One of the most famous places to visit in Osaka is the Osaka Castle. The castle is within a giant park. We started the day off with a trip to the castle, and though we didn’t go inside, we walked around the park, and enjoyed the great views from the outside. It’s well worth a visit when you visit Osaka.
2:57 Camp Curry - After a long morning, we were really hungry, so we did a quick search and found an interesting restaurant right in Umeda Station called Camp Curry. The restaurant specialized in Japanese curry style dishes, all of which were fully camping themed and in style. The curry was a bit on the mild side, but it did taste pretty good because we were so hungry. Overall, not the best Japanese curry, but good for a quick meal when you’re in Umeda in Osaka.
5:57 Tuna Restaurant (Chayamamchi Maguroya (梅田芝田一丁目まぐろや maguroya-nakats...) - After walking around Umeda and Osaka Station and doing some shopping at a camera store, we then headed to the northern part of Umeda station where Dwight knew about a izakaya style Japanese restaurant / bar that specialized in tuna. When we arrived the place was almost completely empty, but by the time we left, it was packed out and people were waiting for tables. We started off with some oden and some tuna belly (toro). The tuna belly was one of the most amazing pieces of fish I’ve ever had in my life. It literally just melted completely into my mouth - it started to liquefy without me even chewing it. We hung out at Chayamamchi Maguroya (梅田芝田一丁目まぐろや) for a few hours, and thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere and especially that melt in your mouth tuna belly!
That was it for Day 3 in Osaka, another delicious day of Japanese food. The highlight of my day was by all means that tuna belly!

Seeing the Osaka castle and it's moat was awesome. =) I have learned to eat my breakfast as I watch your videos so I don't get super hungry but it is always a disappointment when I look down at my cereal. I live in Germany and they recently stopped giving any dish that has tuna in it in universities' mensas, cause it is an endangered fish. I hope people start choosing their food more responsibly.

I had chu toro for the first time after only eating lean tuna, and it was a huge difference. I described it as buttery.... I cannot wait to try toro. For years i was afraid to try tuna because as a kid, I was grossed out by tuna in a can. But i got over it and now tuna is my favorite food. I think as american's we are so afraid to try new things. People never want to go out of their comfort zone and because of that, miss out on so many things we could love.

Hi Mark, really enjoy the videos you've put together as usual. But I just have a tiny request - I find the oriental style music that you sometimes use for the Japan and Taiwan videos a little abrasive (not in this one). It's not you, just in general I don't enjoy it when travel shows use those kinds of music when they go to Asia. Would it be possible to try out gentle or soothing music for Japan and Taiwan videos in the future? So that your trip to Japan feels like a natural extension of your Thailand videos, not like you've suddenly arrived onto another planet. Using more toned down music would make us feel like the rest of Asia and the world are parts of our neighborhood, familiar places where we could feel comfortable in our skin, like it's right around the corner from our house, and we could be ourselves everywhere we go on this earth. I feel like the oriental style music actually "divides" and announces the borders a little too loudly in a way that is jarring and disorienting (no pun intended). Just my thoughts, thanks for reading!

+belovedpeartree It just have to be soft cultural music if that's what your looking for. I like Yokoyama Masaru but his music doesn't fit Mark Wiens videos and his style. I think the music is all right just a softer pop song than the one he played in that crowded place in his previous video.
