I won't lie I was pretty god smacked at Natsuki's ability to hold a decent conversation, given his lack of English study. HUGE thanks to Charlie for tutoring him over the course of the hour - I'd like to point out for the sake of keeping the video a reasonable length, I cut out most of Charlie actually correcting/teaching Natsuki unfortunately. Charlie has a free ebook on language acquisition which you can find here (bit.ly/2iTGfvI) - it's a really interesting read. For those of you learning English, he's also got his own channel called "Real English with Real Teachers", which you can check out here (goo.gl/XkbUFL)!

For some reason this reminds me of an incident which happened when I first lived in Japan back in the 80’s. At the time I had a Japanese friend who had lived in the States before and on this particular night we were on a double date at a restaurant with two very innocent and demure looking Japanese girls who didn’t seem to speak a word of English between them. My friend on the other hand spoke perfect English and, as he was also very well versed in English slang, he decided to it would be funny to play a little joke on the girls. Basically he would whisper some raunchy English slang into the ear of my date and tell her to repeat it back to me out loud, then I was supposed to do the same with his date. It was really awful stuff too, like “I want to suck your c#ck” or “please lick my p#ssy”. Anyway, hearing those words come out of the mouths of these sweet, innocent, and very clueless Japanese girls mouths had me laughing so hard that I literally nearly fell out of my chair. It’s just a shame there were no portable video cameras back then.
@nopass62477 жыл бұрын
Natsuki actually has really good English for a non-native speaker without education beyond high school. He can follow a conversation and has a really strong vocabulary. It's a long way beyond punk-rock lyrics. He'd have no problem getting around the UK alone, when people spoke slowly and avoided colloquialisms (as they would do with foreigners).
@GwyndolinOwO4 жыл бұрын
i think that's somewhat common with people who learn- its a 50/50 on "i listen very well but can't speak it well/quickly" and "i can read and write it well but not listen or speak it". considering how long (or not that long) he's been learning English he's been doing great! and i know both him and chris are pretty busy people so that just makes it even more cool to me that natsuki wants to try something like this.

So Natsuki: The Movie is very much a working title. I'm sure the finished documentary will have some really clever name with a pun in it somewhere. Filming starts in May in London, and we'll also be filming in Tokyo and rural north Japan. There's a possibility we may put Paris in there as well. I'd be lying if I said we had it all planned out at this stage, but one thing remains for certain - it should be bloody entertaining. Hopefully it'll take Natsuki one step closer to his goal of being a famous rock star billionaire. For now though, thanks for your support guys - I'll speak to you spoon.
