the song is about the singer's experience of a dream involving an intense encounter with a woman who, with the coming of the dawn, vanishes leaving him alone. the title is a play on the word "drink" as in "i had too much too drink last night". as this is near the beginning of the psychedelic music era one could argue that the word dream is a euphemism for a drug experience or hallucination. as for the instrument the singer was using, autoharp or zither, another well known american band from the 60's also used this instrument, "the lovin' spoonful", featuring john sebastian, a band that might provide subject material for your next video.

This style of music was refered to as Psychedelica and was associated with the taking of LSD. Another example is the band Strawberry Alarm Clock and their hit, Incense & Peppermints

i think that high sound is an electric guitar with lots of effect, so that it hardly sounds like a guitar anymore. That was very common in the 1960s.

Fuzz/distortion guitar , I don't think synthesizers were around yet ? , Psyche Era mid 1960's , teens began Garage bands (at home) imitating The Beatles a lot and there are many one hit wonders from that time frame like this song. Psychotic Reaction- Count Five 96 Tears -? and the Mysterians, Time Won't let Me by The Outsiders ....worth a listen

How about "Never Say Never" by Romeo Void. Rick Ocasek of The Cars produced their first album and heard them play this song they were working on at a soundcheck or something.
