FYI. Voltes V was broadcasted in TV Asahi way back 1977. The following year, GMA 7 broadcasted the popular mecha series. During 80s, Voltes V repeated to broadcast in other tv stations but it didn't finish the series until the series completed to broadcast in 1999 by GMA 7. This year is 45th anniversary of broadcasting Voltes V in the Philippines. That will be a very high anticipated live action series and the world is waiting for that series. Many vloggers are happy and having their excellent remarks on Voltes V Legacy trailer.

If my memory serves me right, it was shown here in the Philippines in 1979 every Friday, 6pm and you couldn't find any kid on the street, because everybody was in their home watching Voltes V in a black and white TV screen. We also memorized the songs in Japanese and we were all excited to sing it whenever Voltes V is ready to attack the enemies.

Some action anime were also aired but not sure what channel they were played. These are Ultra 7, and Super Sentai (Star Rangers). And of course these super heroes all came from Japan translated in english.

I understand why Mana is not familiar to Voltes V. This is because that Voltes V did not become famous in Japan. One of the main reasons why is that it was overshadowed by the popularity of Combattler V. In addition to this, you don't need to study Filipino to watch this Live Action Series. Toei confirmed that a Japanese Dub for this Live Action Series will also be aired in Japan as well.

There was a boom of an anime genre called Super Robots in early 1970s wherein Toei and other animation studios produced Robot anime series in which the most notable is Mazinger Z made by Go Nagai. Voltes V has 2 other series (Combattler V and Tosho Daimos) under Tadao Nagahama called the Robot Romance Series due to it's theme. Though they were not interconnected within a same continuity unlike Mazinger and Getter Robot, it had prominent success overseas so that might be the reason it was not that popular within Japanese soil.

To add up, it was more of Tokusatsu than anime for the PH version. I am excited to see how it would be close to the original source material and what changes they would add up to the story.👌👌👌👌

What got us amazed about Voltes V was that in 1978 the idea of five machines interlocking together to form a giant robot. It was totally ahead of its time back then. Then the weapons and the storyline definitely connected with us.

The reason why Voltes V is unknown to today's generation because people have stopped talking about it. It didn't get any sequel and it didn't get to be remake unlike Dragon Ball Z has Dragon Ball Z Kai, Digimon Adventure has a 2020 version and Captain Tsubasa has Captain Tsubasa 2018. Also there's no Voltes V games released in 2010 or an upcoming game. Kinda wish Toei would remake the series and turned it into a 200 episode series cuz the original anime only has 48 episodes. In nowadays, people only know Voltron, Power Rangers and Gundam.
@h-e-acc3 ай бұрын
The primary setting of Voltes V is the secret base called Big Falcon which canonically is an island called Ootorijima so it’s implied that, while they’re dealing with a global threat, the primary events were happening in or around Japan.
