In the USA, it's almost impossible to find (at least online and in catalogs) a bo (staff) that is practical. All they want to sell are very thin (1-inch diameter or smaller) staves which spin very fast in "demonstrations" but appear to be completely impractical. I trained with one that was 1.25 to 1.5 inches in diameter with or without tapered ends, made from oak or other hardwood.

I am the proud owner of a 6ft red oak bo staff disguised as a walking stick. It’s very reassuring to have it at my side while I’m walking in places I can’t legally carry my sidearm.

I repurposed my Japanese Red Oak Bo 72" and Jo 50" Staffs as walking sticks after a Car Accident left me disabled about a decade ago. I have permanent Vestibular damage and my balance is no longer stable. I TRUST these STOUT Sticks much more than any Cane on the Market. I bought Leather Tennis Racket Wrap Grips for them. @Enso Martial Arts Shop....I found out what you said in the Video is very True. I just bought a 72" White Oak Made in Taiwan Staff. It got here and is only 1.182 Inches compared to my Red Oak being 1.262 inchs in Dia. I do NOT like how THIN it feels in my hands. I've had the Japanese Red Oak Staff for over 20 years so I'm quit use to it's weight and thickness. The new White Oak staff only weighs in at 28 ounces while my Japanese Red Oak staff weighs in at 51 ounces with the 2x Leather Wraps on it (One near top and one in the Center of the Staff.), and PVC Pipe Cap on bottom with a Piece Car Radiator Hose to make it non slip. So, I'm assuming it weighs in right around the 49 ounces you have listed on your Store's Website for the this Staff. I tried to putting Two in the Shopping Cart but it was a No Go. Guess I will need to CALL you on the Telephone sometime. I really want to to have an Extra Staff or Two around.
