Good video, what sets this apart from the rest similar style videos for me is that you show a clip of game play footage from the games mentioned, especially useful because I don't know anything about japanese games.

Lol. "Super Night Trap" made me laugh way harder than it should have. Fwiw, I love Sonic Spinball, too. Lot of happy childhood memories from it, still play it all the time. Lot of good Sega stuff in this outing.

Spinball and Sonic 2 are the games I reach for when I only have like 20-30 minutes to kill

When I watch showcases for next gen games demonstrating better light and shadow mechanics it doesn't really impress me, but when I see a retro game like 'Panzer Bandit' that would be running on older hardware implement a simple flickering circle shadow... for some reason I'm more appreciative. One small step for beatemups, and a giant leap for the industry of videogame design!

always fun to see the MPG X destinyfomo team-up! this month I did pick up a couple more SFC games, JP versions of DKC (aka 'Super Donkey Kong' over there) and Super Mario All-Stars! 20 bucks for both so definitely saving some money on the US versions. speaking of super, I also had to laugh at the 'super' gag maybe more of the games should have super in the title, haha.

Love these game hunting videos. I wish Book Off had more 100Y stuff like I remember before Covid, but 270Y isn't breaking the bank. Shin Sekai in Osaka has a lot of arcades, I hope you make a video there checking out the arcades next time you're in town

That was a good one, nice pickups! I'd like to get more into the PS1/X360 stuff personally, Deathsmiles looks like a lovely start!
@MadPanicGaming2 ай бұрын
Deathsmiles is an awesome game and a good intro to bullet hell shooters, it's very forgiving on lower difficulties. I'd recommend picking it up on the 360 or if you have a Switch it's on that as well along with the sequel

Cool hunt Jim..keep up the good job! Ps. i own that Twinbee Deluxe pack on the Sega Saturn... i never heard of any Yahoo standalone release though..i also own Deathsmiles on the Xbox 360!
@atomiswave19713 ай бұрын
Game Tengoku to my knowledge was made by Ex Konami employee's who couldn't get Konami to release it as they didn't feel it had any profit potential as it was a Saturn exclusive. It is also one of those games that uses a lot of the Saturns effects which would have been hard to do on other platforms at the time (scaling, screen and sprite rotation, TATE mode). I'd like to know how many English friendly PC engine CD games there are. I have quite a few Hucards but not a single PCE CD. I went to Shinjuku once but like Destini I came back empty handed. I didn't see any of the stuff you got though I would have bought some bits had they had the the stock you came across. Deathsmiles looks excellent, looked at prices and then realized I have 2 copies of it already on the Switch lol. I think Death Smiles was released worldwide as it certainly was released in Europe.
@MadPanicGaming2 ай бұрын
Yep, Deathsmiles on the 360 got a global release, and the NTSC-J version is also region free if I'm not mistaken. As for PCE CD, it has a lot of shooters and platformers that don't require any Japanese knowledge, and also plenty of RPGs and visual novel style games.

@DestinyFomo 😁 lovely to hear from you ✌️ I really wanted to know what you were hunting for, so I checked your channel hoping for a companion video to this. But i hope you found the items on your list 😇 some day I'll make it to Japan, it's my dream holiday 🥰

You can always ask Destiny to get the lower shelf stuff for you. Just have her move slowly. And record from multiple ang. . . you know what? Never mind. I’m being creepy again. My fault. 😂

They're Surugaya prices lol, they know most of their customer base for retro games will be collectors and hobbyists, but you can still find the occasional deal, especially after factoring the weak yen
