I will definitely try this Shinichi. As an Italian, I don't eat pasta that often, I think last time I've had pasta, was at least 5 months ago. By the way, I should be trying those Japanese pasta sauces, with you guys, as I would be very critical, yet fair. I just love Justin, he melts my heart! Much love to the three of you, from London 💕

This was so easy and looks delicious! I actually am not a fan of tuna, but this dish seems easily adaptable to different types of protein. I can see this tasting good with chicken , steak, or shrimp. I don’t know anything about Japanese cuisine, so I don’t know how well the mushrooms and seasoning would pair., could be interesting. Another great video. Love you guys!

This looks really yummy! What a great recipe! It's always fun to see you two cooking. In terms of a Japanese lasagne, one idea might be to make it with a cream sauce and cheese, and then use some Japanese vegetables in the layers like kabocha squash, negi, etc. Maybe you could combine ideas from doria dishes with lasagne? Anyway, thanks for the video!

Your recipe is creative and looks yummy. Something I'll have to try. Please review the pre-made package pasta sauces. Maybe you know this tip: If you find your pasta a little dry at the end of cooking save some of the pasta cooking water and ladle a little bit on to your almost finished spaghetti dish. This trick I learned from someone else can make a big difference in the end product.

Yummy!! I love Japanese style pasta too. As a possibility for Japanese lasagne you could use some minced beef and onion soboro topping in place of the meat ragu, soy milk bechamel, lasagne sheets and add some yaki mochi as well as a little cheese to the top layer...or even a bit of natto.

Justin at 11:18 wins! You guys get better and better. What if you made a 2 or 3 layer Japanese lasagna influenced by chicken teriyaki flavors with mixed mushroom and onion filling. I don't know how Japanese it is but some "Japanese, not sure how authentic" USA restaurants add mushrooms and extra onion to bulk up teriyaki diced chicken thighs in bento boxes, and I like it! I love mushrooms too. I would leave out tomato sauce entirely but maybe top with a white sauce with some cheese you could place under broiler to brown the top. Now I want to make this LOL
@tamara45574 жыл бұрын
Yes teriyaki is a good idea for lasagna. add some myo to cut through the sweetness and give it a creamy flavour.

Also, would you guys do an episode on ramen that is vegetarian? I love pasta. Only I don't eat tomato saus so the more traditional Italian pasta's are not really for me. Japanese style pasta is delicious :D For those who don't eat tuna, you can also use smoked chicken or steamed chicken/salad chicken shredded. Perhaps for a vegetarian version substitute tuna for abura age. For a Japanese style lasagna maybe something with mentaiko, or yaki niku and white sauce, add shimeji or maitake. I think any doria recipe would work, only instead of rice you have layers of pasta

I think your mother would like aglio e olio spaghetti. It's just olive oil and garlic and maybe some Italian parsley and crushed red pepper but both of those things are optional
japanese curry pasta? mentaiko cream pasta? japanese mac & cheese?

Also... do you have any suggestion for a substitution for dashi powder or is that essential? Thank you Ps: how is your mother doing?

Make lasagne roll ups instead of sheet pan lasagna with lovely Japanese pumpkin cooked into a pureed sauce with your favorite seasonings. Roll cooked lasagne noodles around bundles of lightly cooked chopped local greens, partially cooked chopped pork belly or bacon or fish, or chicken mixed in greens, mushrooms, onion, garlic. I cook my pumpkin puree down with chicken broth until a slightly thick sauce consistency. I don't know what you can do about a substitute for cheese if you don't eat cheese. Maybe just use more pumpkin sauce. It still will need some oven cooking, covered.
