For anyone disgusted from the raw egg dip, get a good organic egg and try it this way and you'll be surprised of how deliciously creamy and velvety it is without any fowl smell or sliminess. Give something a try before blindly judging it.
@BeastOrGod6 жыл бұрын
I don't recommend it though, the Japanese poultry industry might have eliminated Salmonella because of the demand, but the rest of world dfoesn't have those standards.
@ashtonpaugh11896 жыл бұрын
I think, especially for Americans, it it just unconventional. We've been taught not to eat raw eggs. But we've also been told one year that eggs bring longevity, energy and health but the next year they are one of the worst substances to consume and will kill you. So it's not very consistent on the US end. I won't lie, it kind of makes my stomach churn but Mark isn't the only one to eat this way. It's common and very excepted in other countries but one thing that others have to remember is, the eggs really are different in some countries. They are treated and raised and butchered very differently. People used to raise their eyebrows at raw beef and fish and even here in the US, it is now acceptable to the masses. I think people need to be more aware of other cultures, their breeding and raising habits of the food they eat and respect that we all see things differently.

Eating raw egg is safe in Japan. The chickens are raised in much better conditions than those Tyson factories in America, and the eggs are all disinfected before packaging.

@nimmivids not necessarily. Traveling internationally is very stressful, with a child even more so. With the added stress of filming and editing AND working together, which some people have a hard time with because they need time apart. You can really tell they are a team, and that's neat I think.

So go with a group and everybody get one thing to share. That way you arent eating alot, everyone gets some, and everyone is paying for their fair share. It also makes it easier to try multiple things in a day if you are never full at any point because you are only eating a small bit at a time.

It's interesting to see what various cultures find "disgusting". For some it's raw eggs or meat, for others it's entrails, for others a certain kind of meat (rat or horse for example)... Never judge by just your own taste, experience or tradition. What you find strange is normal for your neighbour :)

Hi Mark. Just discovered your channel - somewhat 'transfixed' with both nostalgia ('natsukashii') and hunger pangs for Japanese food as I married a wonderful Japanese lady in 1988 who died in 2003 of cancer. We lived in Japan a few years befor moving to the UK...and your Japanese food tour and your other vid about living in an apartment in Japan just 'brought it all back' in such a special way. I should add that I'm now happily re-married but you'll understand why I had to subscribe. 'Itadakkimasu!'

One of the things that I missed about Japan would be the shopping arcades like the one this restaurant is located at. I stayed at an accommodation located near to one of these the last time I visited Japan and remembered how clean and peaceful these shopping arcades are. I love walking down the arcades and observing the Japanese people live their lives. I find it interesting that they play music throughout the arcades. I guess it just makes that shopping experience more pleasant. Thank you for the videos, Mark! Another restaurant worth trying the next time I visit the country.
