Musang king and black thorn are super sweet and bitter put together plus stronger aftertaste. They are for the pro and durian lovers. But for people who 1st timer or not the fan but want to try it, definitely go for white flesh durian like kampung one which usually has sweet creamy vanilla esque taste . I think there is also Capri , which has thicker white flesh durian. Then going up for D24 , IOI and Red prawn . The sweetness will gradually increase from that list and sometimes it has caramel esque aftertaste. Also bear in mind, brighter the yellow flesh , more sulfur in it and make your body hotter . So drink plenty of water after eating. Sometimes people get fever or sore throat

Always drink salt water through durian skin to eliminate heat and wash your fingers with water in the durian skin. That eliminates all the durian smell on fingers 🤌

That's the best part about durians, the different types taste different! Mustang King is probably one of the "mildest" flavour profile for me. There are others like D24, 101, using merah that have stronger flavour profiles (for me).

Malaysian here. When you like it it smells good, when you don't like it, it smells bad. It's as simple as that. When I used to like durian it smelled nice but then suddenly hated it and it smlled bad but after 10+ years I'm not hating the smell so eating it again starting with milder flavour ones.

Durian is the god fruit. I luv Durian. Tasted so don good. It has so many health benefits. Here are a few examples. It possess anti-cancer properties. And it also slow down your aging. durian types can range from really bitter to really sweet, you just gotta pick the right one. starters should try the sweet ones and progress to the bitter ones but most malaysians get used to the bitter taste right away. most people dislike durian cuz they just tag along their expert durian friends and head straight to the bitter ones.

I don’t know about the way other countries eat durian. But in Thailand, we usually eat it when it isn’t fully ripe which make it easier to eat since the smell won’t be that pungent. Maybe it’s better to try that!

durian is sometimes parallel to a coffee experience. the taste and texture definitely arent for naive tongue. but much like coffee, once you acquire a tolerance to to the basics, you tend to focus more on the nuances and flavour profile. and let me tell you, at times, musang king can be like a double dose of espresso shot of kenyan/java origin coffee. i'd rather have something more calmer and compressed taste profile like red prawn (parallel to colombian origin coffee), or colourful taste profile like XO (parallel to vietnam origin coffee)

If she likes durian, she should try the small varieties, the one with orange or deep yellow colour. That one is more buttery, sweeter and less gassy! The thorns are smaller/thinner and more pointy, so it's easy to distinguish between the two.

Yes Musang King the farmer has to put a lot of chemical (fertilizer) in order for fruits to grow. Durian Kampong I think you can get natural fruits taste. Btw Malaysia and myself would prefer Musang King 😅😊
