Nice video. I bought that same set precisely because of no duplicates and included SAE sizes. I love Wera stuff and have a lot of it, but they don't do a great job of covering SAE sizes. They have it, but frequently you need to order them individually rather than in the convenient sets. I wish the world would realize that BOTH systems are going to exist side by side for the foreseeable future.

You shouldn’t have to correct their design error, but you could probably 3D print a front cover with similar gussets as on the back row. Have tp keep the cover on with rubber bands or something though…

I bought this bit set because of the great selection of bits in a relatively compact form factor. I dont like that the Wera sets often include multiple of the same bits, since I wont be using an impact on these. I got the Centrofix to go along with it, but it is kind of short right now. Glad you mentioned that Milwaukee bit holder, I'll be picking up a shockwave set then, lol

I like your JDM videos. I run Makita JDM exclusively. Naturally I have no interest in this particular set. I have found using a JIS driver in a PH head is usually not problematic but don’t try the reverse you will wreck the JIS fastener head. I also repair vintage Japanese cameras and lenses. JIS only for those. Vessel has been the go-to for any tech working on Japanese products for a very long time. Keep up the awesome work..!

Mine arrived perfect…also had no idea until I watched this that the front row slides down

I'm so glad I saw this video. I had ordered this set of bits to go with the Vessel hex bit holder ratcheting driver an hour before I found your video. I was able to cancel the order in time. It looked like such a cool case and bits, but people are also reporting that they rust and break easily in addition to the issues you found. So disappointing.

Good feedback. I have not had the rust problem myself. I do use this set often however because every size is in it and saves trips back to the garage to get bits.

One product I want is an adapter to where I can use Japan Vessel bits in my US E6 impact driver. The longer base on them fits, but doesn't lock.

Great video overview. Do you have a suggestion on a better, Japanese made, bit holder I can swap out with?

I feel like I would want some PH 1/2 and T25 duplicates though? I would only need a couple PH1 and like 3 PH2 and 3 T25… but I’d hate to have to order more of those if I’m using them in my impact, though the Vessel bits are very strong.

Traditional Philips with its cam-out feature makes sense for fasteners that you never plan to remove/reuse (e.g 99% of construction work) but for adjustment screws (e.g on Shimano derailleurs and I'm guessing fishing reels) or any situation where you are likely to remove and re-install the fastener Id rather have something that doesn't cam out and damage the fastener so easily.

Shame about the loose case. The wera cases are so nice. I love a complete set with the slots labeled like this so you know what is missing. I really like Tekton bit sets for these two reasons. Holder slots have the perfect friction (like Wera) and they are labeled. The Tekton bit sets are just simple rails. No compact case for all of them like Wera and Vessel.

Are these more durable than the milwaukees? I got a 74pc Milwaukee bit set and the bit holder kills it.. it sucks and theres a lot of duplicates. The hex doesnt to any larger than 6mm I think too

Thank you so much for sharing. Do you have any plans to compare long term performance of impact bits please? I got a GEDORE 666-042 torsion bit set and they compare well to the Wiha MaxxTor bits I mostly use as the Wera Impaktor bits I have tend to be a bit loose in the torx fasteners like Spax I've used. For non-impact use I'm very happy with the likes of PB Swiss or Wera. I mostly use Torx and PZ2 so I appreciate thats a different to PH or Japanese types

Are the Vessel for US market square bits, as in this kit, square or Robertson?

I just got these. it would of been a better buy if the Pozidriv bits were JIS bits. I cant recall the last time I've seen a pozidriv screw. I also recently bought a set of JIS bits. A must have for working on older motorcycles and some bicycles.

Maybe the bits are good quality, but that case is very cheap, and the bit adaptor is also very poorly designed. However I like the Vessel ball handle design on their screwdrivers.

VESSEL USA is nowhere as good as the Japanese imports. Sadly, I was so hopeful to get the actual Japanese versions.

I still have and use My VESSEL 2500 hand impact driver for older motorcycles. I bought it in the 70"s, so I would say its not made in China.

I have done my own research on bits… the only bits worth buying are …. Wiha, Makita XPS, or Wera… most everything else is just pure fuckery and if you buy any other brand,… you will be highly disappointed… you truly get what you pay for…. ! There should be absolutely no wiggle or play when the bit is in the screw head….

Vessel arguably makes better bits than any of those. The issue is their best bits are 13mm anvil and intended for the Japanese market only.
