The variety of verb forms (want to, need to, questions, etc) is a great mini-test, and anthropomorphic everything is always fun to see! そして、博物館の漢字は面白いですね。エッグさんは博識がありますかなぁ。お疲れ様です

For the kids playing at the park, I would have written: 子供たちは公園で遊んでいます。 Is there a real difference in the 2? (Video has: 公園で子どもが遊んでいます。 ) I’m still new to this, so trying to understand the difference. Love your content! Thank you!

at 10:13 "the traffic light is turned green" but the phrases is "信号が青になりました" (shingo ga ao ni narimashita) shouldn't it be 緑(midori)= green because 青(ao) means blue? or is is special case?
@archthiel Жыл бұрын
yeah you right
@person8809 ай бұрын
Blue is used in Japan as the traffic light itself. However, since the colour is close to green, and since other countries use green for their traffic lights, you always see this case translated as "green." It's a localization more than it is an accurate translation. I wish they would just stick to "blue" in the translations and allow the reader/listener to learn something new about another place. It's like in dramas when someone is asking to call an ambulance, and the English subtitles say to call "911" so that the Americans can understand instead of making them learn something new. I hate when translations make unnecessary localizations for the audience.

What's the reason for japanese traffic lights turning blue?
@tinot5093 Жыл бұрын
it's the bluest shade of green as compromise. lots of history under it.
@ymgch16 Жыл бұрын
It is for historical reasons. It seems that green appeared in Japanese around 1100 AD. Until then, green was a type of blue. The custom is deeply ingrained and remains today. For example, we still call green leafy vegetables 青物(あおもの expression like blue leafy vegetables), and vegetable markets 青果市場(せいかいちば expression like a market for blue vegetables and fruits).
