Do you like Japanese humor? Do you want to make your Japanese friends laugh?
This time I'll teach you funny Japanese puns AKA ダジャレ (dajare)!
The humor in Japanese puns comes through exploiting similar-sounding words.
Read this article (wp.me/p5mQSP-a2) to learn more about DAJARE (Japanese pun).
Dajare is also a GREAT way to memorize words as it rhymes and sounds funny. So it sticks in your head.

I had a friend who had a great Banana-Dolphin pun pen they got as souvenir from Japan once. On the side it said "バナナいるか" which you could read as "Are you a banana?" or "Banana Dolphin" since "イルカ" = "dolphin" while "いる か" could are read as "are you?". I wish I could find a pic. Thanks for making a video about puns! There were some solid grammar points in there!

Please talk about the usages of になる and なる without に particle (like 雷がなりました) and also the differences between なる and verbs like する, 起こる, 達する, 着く, 及ぶ... etc. If it is possible, it will be really helpful.

I was in a livestream chat of a japanese youtuber doing something in city skylines and based off my limited Japanese knowledge I said the city he was building was 'subara-shi'. It was at least an attempt at a Japanese pun, since -shi means city and subarashi means amazing. Was that a good pun, at least by the standards of complexity you might expect from a 外人?

Japanese comedy is very situational. It is about creating awkward, absurd or embarrassing situations, and/or pointing them out. Prank comedy and slapstick are a part of this. Wordplay also. It crates something absurd out of the mundane or unexpected. For example the sentence, "Have you ever made bread?" sounds exactly the the same as "Have you ever eaten panties?" Manzai (double act) comedy again is situational. It's done through the absurd disconnect between the pair on stage, and the embarrassment and frustration it causes. Wit is also very appreciated in their culture. It means making funny quips in reaction to what others have said, again often referring back to awkward, absurd or embarrassing things. That's what happens when you have these variety shows with a panel of 15 'tarento' sitting there. They're all trying to talk over one another, and any person that can get in a few funny words succinctly wins the live audiences' attention. All the above approaches to comedy are used in American culture too, but in ways that do not quite benefit as much from the second hand embarrassment and awkwardness felt in a collective and passive aggressive society such as Japan. Also, the biggest fundamental difference in comedic approaches is that the set up and punchline joke is not a thing in Japanese comedy, so it often flies over their heads. They interestingly call it an 'American joke,' which also refers in general to foreign jokes or humor they don't get. Sarcasm isn't really common in Japan either.
