I just made the pork-wrapped asparagus & side dishes as a meal for us tonight - no leftovers! It was delicious! We don't get that thinly sliced pork here so I used prosciutto & a couple of rashers of bacon instead. The bacon didn't wrap well & fell off when I turned the asparagus but the prosciutto worked really well (for anyone in the same boat). Also couldn't find the mustard spinach so I sprinkled over some mustard powder on the spinach & sausage & it was lovely. So many recipes to try - thank you ❤❤

Koreans don't eat brocolli raw too by the way.

Thank you for your comment! I think Japanese and Korean both like to eat cooked veggies instead of raw.

Yes! Kabocha bought in the UK and USA - both of them are very hard. I have a difficult time cutting into it!

Same here... 😂 My husband is always worried that I might cut my hands when I cut kabocha. haha

I am not sure if it's the same as kabocha, but acorn squash looks very similar. And yes, it's very hard. Lol! We do have a broccoli dish where it is served raw. It's a creamy broccoli salad served cold.

Creamy broccoli salad sounds good! How do you season them?
@dnk5145 ай бұрын
@JapaneseCookingChannel this is similar to how I make it. I don't add cheese though. 8 cups bite-size broccoli florets (about 3 heads of broccoli), rinsed and dried well ▢1 (3.5-ounce) package real chopped bacon (about 1 cup) (or 14 to 16 slices of bacon, cooked and crumbled) ▢1/2 cup dry roasted sunflower kernels ▢1 cup dried cranberries ▢1/2 cup red onion, finely diced (about 1/4 medium red onion) ▢1 cup thick cut shredded sharp cheddar cheese ▢1 cup mayonnaise ▢2 tablespoons white wine vinegar or apple cider vinegar ▢2 tablespoons sugar

as am American, i am accustomed to eating hot meals, so if i pack a lunch i microwave it. I see you are using metal bento boxes, when its time to eat the lunch, is it warmed up or eaten cold/room temp?
@JapaneseCookingChannel5 ай бұрын
When we use these metal bento boxes, it's eaten cold or at room temperature. Sometimes we use microwaveable bento boxes and heat it up before eating!

I think we better bleach the Asparagus to make softer ❤
@dnk5143 ай бұрын
I had a thought come to mind. How do you reheat these dishes to eat them? 😅
@JapaneseCookingChannel3 ай бұрын
Japanese people usually eat it at room temperature. If your bento box is microwavable, you can warm it up just before eating.
@dnk5143 ай бұрын
@@JapaneseCookingChannel good to know. It's worth a try at room temp. Thank you! 🥰

In he USA many people eat broccoli raw dipped in ranch but I prefer it steamed with a variety of sauces or cheese

Oh I miss ranch dressing! And, I think steamed one is good. Eating it with cheese sounds yummy!

I’ve tried that with the asparagus and it’s still yuck raw. I steam it a little in the microwave, then wrap it and cook it. Work a heaps better.
