- dayo used at end of sentences - 2 ways - 1) when you want to state your opinion - 2) when you want to emphasize/point out something (here's a souvenir for you dayo, here's a glasses case dayo, you use it this way dayo) - da is too curt and direct and can be rude. dayo makes a sentence softer and friendlier. - use dayo with friends

@AlohaKIG Not really. It's more like です (desu) but a more casual way. だよ (dayo) is usually used when you are talking to someone you know or someone who's close to you and です (desu) is used when talking to people you do not know or people who are older or have higher positions (i.e your boss, manager).
@theanon59064 жыл бұрын
xzlatofy example 天気が悪いだ : the weather is bad ( casual ) 天気が悪いだよ: the weather is bad ( casual ) The meaning doesn’t change it’s how the person explained it in the comment. It’s kinda like “you know” which some people use at the end of their sentences : the weather is bad the weather is bad, you know ?

It's amazing how Japanese and Korean language are similar yet different. Korean also use dayo at the end of the sentence. Same meaning. For example, "Hakkyo (school) e (to) gan (go) dayo." - I'm going to school. They only use "dayo" as casual (not to elder or superiors in the office). They use e-yo to elder. "Jae-ga (Jae humble form of "I", ga is the same as Japanse "ga" as in Watashiga) danidun (used to go) hakkyo(school) yeyo. "- It's school I used to go. I think women use this a lot more than men.

Hello, As Gungrave pointed : The form is similar to desu ne. The copula da (だ) is the casual form of desu (です is formal) and the particle yo (よ) is use for emphasize, ne (ね) is a particle similar to question tag in English (The speaker wants listener's approbation for the said sentence). Is my understanding correct ?

You are correct but to deepen your understanding you can watch their video about the difference between sou de su ne and sou desu ka ne is also explained their and ka

Hiroka (ひろか, ヒロカ) is a common feminine Japanese given name. Hiroka can be written using different kanji characters and can mean: 博華, "wise flower" 寛香, "tolerant scent"

Perhaps she doesn’t have any kanji in her name. Many parents think hiragana only is kinda cute. Or they did.

Tae Kim (the book) covers nihongo quite nicely, it teaches not by how english is taught starting by greetings etc. I ventured a lot of books and I find Tae Kim the most interesting and self-study friendly. It incorporates kanji directly in the examples too that you can read kanji throughout the time as well.
