Used to work at university press and assist my boss on assignments, we use 501cm for more important editorial assignments, and I have changed a lot of film backs and loaded a lot of polaroids on this camera. Paired with mobile broncolor battery strobe packs, the 501cm produced some amazing images. Quite a joy to use and operate, but definitely much slower to use compared to 35mm.

For me the (analog) Hasselblad Cameras are not slower to work with than (analog) 35mm cameras. I have had 500 C/M ( got it in 1983), 2000 FC (got it in 1985) and now 501 CM.

The normal or standard focal length lens for the Hasselblad 6x6cm film camera is 80mm. As a kit, the camera would come with a Zeiss 80mm/f2.8 Planar lens. For those preferring an even "better" lens, Zeiss also offered a 100/3.5 Planar. While the 80mm is, indeed, an excellent lens, the 100/3.5 was far superior, offering 100% distortion-free images. In early campaign ads, Zeiss referred to it as a "perfect marriage" between focal length and aperture.

I love medium format cameras. I have an extensive collection and the hardest thing is figuring out which one I want to use for the day. TLR? Hassy Rollei?

You are right, it was very essential that the Hasselblad Cameras could be easily used handheld (for the left hand). The "Japan Vintage camera" man are a noob when it comes to knowledge of Hasselblad Gear and usage.

Yes it's a lovely camera just like Leica but you are paying for the name. I have two bronica S2a and two bronica ECs and and beautiful bronica EC-TL which has a built in light meter and numerous lenses all for less than one hasselblad with one lens!! I challenge anyone to tell the difference between bronica Nikkor lenses and the hasselblad ones. The darkslide on the bronica does not come out with the back off. There is a slot for it on the EC models so you don't lose it. The backs are multiple purpose for 220 and 120. No barn door problems as it's a focal plane shutter. The list goes on. Anyone wanting to experience medium format film would do great to buy a bronica system. When you win the lottery you can buy the hasselblad!!

You forgot Bronica systems have issue with focusing over time. Due to them having some foam pice that wears down over time

I will NOT compare the Hasselblad to Leica Cameras !!! You cannot have a medium format film in a Leica camera !!! The quality of the Hasselblad are far superior to Bronica and the Zeiss Lenses are also superior to Bronica ! I have used Hasselblad for decades and I do NOT understand the fuss about the blind plate for the magazine, I have NEVER had problems, you only need it when changing film or when changing magazines !

The American car of the Fifties did not inspire the designers of the Hsselblad. The Hasselblad is a downsized copy of a German WW II aerial camera. The Hasselblad was sold as a body without a (standard ) lens. Standard lenses do not excist. The INSERT of the A12 back Know the manual of Hasselblad.

NO, the Hasselblad Cameras are NOT a downsized copy of a German WW II aerial camera !!! HASSELBLAD made aerial Cameras for the Swedish Air Force !!! You did often get a 80mm Lens as a kit Lens and also included with a magazine, you could order the body only ! KNOW you Hasselblad history ! noob.

500 C/M, "most popular", most sold. NO, you are wrong, the Hasselblad Camera was made to be used handheld (left hand), that was TOP priority for Victor Hasselblad !!! The winder on the Camera you hold are not the original that came with the Camera, the original was just a round knurled winder. The 150mm Lens was the most used by professionals portrait photographers for Hasselblad Cameras ! The windows on the right side of the Camera and Magazine shall have the same color, so you did wind the shutter before mounting the magazine. I used Hasselblad Cameras very intensive from 1983 to 1999 (still have one) and I have never had problems with the blind plate for the magazine ! "Carl Zeiss Lens hoods" I was Lens Hoods made by HASSELBLAD ! So should have had the paper under the metal lip, noob ! You only need to use the dark slide plate when changing film or changing to another magazine ! When you are using a 500C or 500 C/M with longer Lenses or at macro then the upper image of the view finder darkens/vignette, so if you are going to use longer Lenses or macro, then I will recommend on of the newer 500-series or the 200/2000-series Hasselblad Cameras which have a longer mirror that not darkens/vignette the upper image of the view finder. I will also recommend to get Acute-Matte view screens (made by Minolta) which are MUCH lighter than older versions, also I will recommend to get a newer waist level finder which have a much better view and magnification than the older ones ! My most favorite Lenses for Hasselblad are Zeiss Distagon 50mm 2.8 (for the 200/200-series), Zeiss Planar 110mm 2.0 (for the 200/200-series), Zeiss Tele-Tessar 350mm 4.0, Zeiss Macro-Planar 120mm 4.0 and the Zeiss Mutar 2X which are excellent in combination with the 110mm 2.0 !
