A Seeker Story
Saucony Racing pro Jared Ward is currently living and training in Provo, Utah with his wife and two children. He's coached by Brigham Young University coach Ed Eyestone, a two-time Olympic marathoner. Jared qualified for the 2016 U.S. Olympic Team Trials - Marathon at the 2015 L.A. Marathon with a time of 2:12:56. This time may not separate him much from a dozen other men of the same caliber but he has proven that he can compete successfully under adverse conditions. In addition to claiming the U.S. marathon title last year, he also took first at the U.S. 25K and 20K championships, and second at the half marathon. He can contend in tactical races, although he is training for pace, saying he believes it will take a 2:09-2:10 to make the Olympic team.
He'll be competing in the 2016 U.S. Olympic Team Trials - Marathon in Los Angeles, California on February 13th at 10:06 a.m. PT.
He's seeking a spot on the 2016 U.S. Olympic Team.

I gained 30 lbs at one point in my LDS mission, I got back in shape and when i got back I dropped my 5k PR by a minute! Guys like Jared, Miles Batty, Shaq Walker are inspirations to me.

I'm currently in the process of getting in shape after gaining 35 pounds over the past couple years due to injury and a lack of motivation during the pandemic years. How did you stay motivated in the early days? It's been pretty tough mentally some days. I'm 29 but I think I can still improve in the marathon and half marathon.

His trials time is about 5 min from Olympic record and this year the Ethiopians and Kenyans are looking to break the 2 hr barrier so lots of luck

The 2h barrier project is a nice PR Gimmick. Nobody is breaking the 2hrs in the marathon anytime soon. Be lucky if anyone runs sub 2:03 again soon.
