I have been following and enjoying your videos for a couple of years now and was actually wondering how it was possible to survive as a foreign social media & content creator in China. I would surely miss you (and Susu) if you decided to stop making these videos. 😔 Perhaps the biggest challenge for you will be to adapt your content creation to the life context of someone in his early thirties who can venture a mature and reflective look at this beautiful country that China truly is (i.e., its people and geography, its food culture, its history and language). I can see that you started already with including Susu more actively in your vids, which is IMO a very good decision. @@jonyj2023 I've seen Baozi booths offering jobs for, I think it was, 3000 or so yuan per month. And I've seen many job ads for expats offering a salary of about 15000 yuan per month. Considering housing prices in China, my guess is that Susu and Jared definitely share their rent and living costs. Staples are very cheap, even in the bigger cities. Dining out can be cheap too, depending where you decide to do so. According to my quick research he probably has to pay about 25% taxes. Don't know how they tax influencer but if they tax them as a small business, he probably will pay additionally 20% taxes. And I don't know if small business taxes come first and than after that he has to pay his income taxes or if they all take the 25000 as their common base. Also, it's still not clear to me how they tax his YT earnings as this money isn't made within the country. Let's say he has to pay all his income minus 25% taxes minus 20% business taxes, than he'd still have about 15 000 CAD left, which are currently about 76 400元 , which are about 6 366元 a month. It isn't enough for rent, but it's definitely enough to cover their expenses for food and some trips every now and then for the videos and other things he needs for his videos. So yes, it is way too less to cover all of their expenses but that's why I'm thankful he's still doing it.

I think the main reason for the difference between KZbin and Bilibili is bcs the ads are insert of your video in youtube. That means you have to watch some ad (even sometimes only 5s). But there is no compulsory ads in Bilibili. In another word, you already watch some ads when you on youtube, but on the other website only videos.

我一个路人，在抖音做20秒左右的短视频，每个月至少出3-5条播放量破500万的视频，90%收入来自于商家给的广告费，一条收费500左右，但是我的都是短视频，制作成本很低，10几分钟就能做一条，我7个号一帮都是打包一次收3000左右做7条视频，而且因为广告费低商单根本接不过来，一天最多的时候要做50-100条视频，做不过来我会分一些给大学生兼职帮我做，一条给50块，这个月28天算了下我广告费赚了145320元，另外还有1.5万是带货佣金，那目前赚了16万多点，这个月还有两天，预计能赚17-18万。我们做商业流量根本不在乎视频播放那点钱，抖音商业模式好，用户多且用户精准随便发条视频几万几十万播放量，youtube我尝试做过短视频压根没人看，长视频制作成本我这种没团队的根本搞不过来。
