Please advise how long and what temperature to cook in the pressure cooker. Are these jars special for this purpose or any empty jars ok to use? Thankyou

Hey @riccardreimann2223 Thanks so much for watching and for the comment/question... Depending what pressure cooker you are using I would recommend whatever the lowest heat setting is, for longest time setting. So I used an Instapot which I can put to maximum 240 minutes at the lowest heat setting... I explain this a little better at the 20 minute mark of this video if you want to take a look... sorry for omitting that key piece of info here. My apologies. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aHm2lY2oYr2DY5o

Is there a reason you use iodized salt? I've heard that you shouldn't use iodized salt when canning. I'm very curious 🤔

Hi Dana!! To be honest, I think it preserves the tuna really well... Though, I haven't heard of any reasons not to use iodized salt.... I'm always open to learning new things, is there an issue with using the iodized salt that your aware of. I'm always open to better ways of doing things... thanks so much for the comment... I REALLY appreciate it.

@@Johnnyfishalot I had to do some homework on this after not knowing why lol from what I read it can change the color of some foods I guess. So it's more of a preference than a real reason 😉 that's nice to know.

@danatripp1972 ahhhhh I gotcha.... yeah for this process it won't matter then... the pressure cooking process will turn the tuna that tan/Grey color regardless... thanks again.

Very nice. so after it's been pressure cook can it be store out in room temperature or fridge?
@Johnnyfishalot8 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching @kaovang7416, That is a great question... this can absolutely be kept at room temp for years... just put it in the closet and break it out when you want to eat it... its great because it saves room in your fridge and freezer. All that being said, once you open the jar, THEN you have to refrigerate it. Once you break the air seal then you have to keep it refrigerated, until then though you can keep it at room temp for as long as you want... Hope this helps.

Let me tell my way the best way .. 11/2 cups sea salt in pot Add tuna then top up cover with water boil for 2hrs ... then take out tuna Let drain and cool ... then jar your tuna add your herbs and top up with olive oil... ok add water to a pot and put jar in water and boil ver slow for 1 hr..

Thanks for the comment James!! really appreciate it. I don't actually like boiling it to be honest because I feel like it takes all the taste out of the fish, but that's just me. To each your own, though. Food, like fishing, is all about preferences! I'm glad you like the jarred fish.. To be honest most people don't even know you can jar tuna, but its pretty awesome!! Thanks so much for the comment... I'll give the boiling another try and make some adjustments... thanks again.
