In today’s video we’re continuing to look at the list ‘Things Only Welsh People Understand’. It includes lots of colloquial words and phrases that Welsh people say and situations that are very common in Wales. These include the mysterious Welsh food half and half, our fantastic mobile/cell phone reception (not), why there are only two syllables in the word fabulous and why so many Welsh people can say the longest place name in the world.

Just listened to all three. I'm surprised at how many I do/use. I'm guessing it must be what I picked up from my Bamper as a child. I live in England, but made a promise to myself on my recent 50th birthday, that i would attempt to learn Welsh this year. Hoping to have picked up enough by our annual holiday in September. 🤞🤞 Over 80 days of daily 20 min lessons and loving it so far.

@@LearnWelshPodcast oh, yes. there's the welsh society of philadelphia (around since 1729), and st. david's societies all over the state. while scranton was heavy with coal miners and the welsh baptists and methodists, the philadelphia area has an area known as the 'the welsh tract' which was set up by welsh quakers that wanted a welsh speaking colony in the new world. (didn't quite become welsh only speaking, but you'd recognize most of the town names from welsh maps). and every welshman would probably sing at the drop of a hat. just google welsh in pennsylvania and you'll find plenty to do and see.

My mother is as welsh as they day is long. I was born there, but have lived in america since as I was 2. Both myself and now my adult american children say so many of these. We eat Yorkshires, and have pud. It's always Over by there. Ach y fi a dear little dwt Cwtch Chopsy Now in a minute "Look" at the end of scentences Every skinned knee or tummy ache is a baaaady. Oh, I've got a baaaady foot. I've got a baady belly. And so so many more My husband has even picked some up. And I didnt realize they werent typical until my husband told me how many weird words I had. Lol I was raised on hot tea year round, as are my littl'ns , and my mother calls the kids little tea belly's. I've never looked into much about Wales until now. And now I'm obsessed.

And before anyone says "Its not about money", which is a Welsh past-time, well it is to do about the money idiots, because you cannot do anything without money. The amount of Welsh who say "its not about the money", but the thing is, it is, lol. That is why Welsh people have none, because of this attitude they have and are they happy for it, of course not because when they look at the English the way they live in comparison it makes the Welsh jealous or they simply would not come out with such drivel all the time such as "its not about the money", lol. Welsh people, funny.
