Ive been enrolled onto the learn welsh course level 1 , and this is the first useful bit of welsh I have been taught. Practical welsh which can be used. I hate learning the academic school boy crap like colours and the weather. teach me something which I can use when I go to Bangor or Pontcanna in Cardiff ffs. Hi Lorin. In Christopher Eccleston’s series the words bad wolf are a theme that runs throughout the season. In one episode, Boom Town, the Welsh version of those words are used which are Blaidd ddrwg pronounced Blyth throog. I won’t say where or when they are used, so Berlin can look out for them. I can’t think of any others off hand except in a 1970’s Doctor Who story starring Jon Pertwee called the green death (the one with the green maggots). They set it in Wales and created a made up name for the village. They called it Llanfairfach. It sounded like a proper Welsh name which they then pronounced really badly. Also all the Welsh characters kept calling each other boyo which is painful to watch. Good story though. Not sure if modern kids would enjoy it though because the story is quite long and slow and the special effects are pretty bad.

Ha, Great lesson again, thanks Jason. Plis could you shed some light on the different ways of saying yes and no?? I've seen Ydw/Nac ydw.. Do/Naddo.. Oes/Nac Oes...Ydyn/Nac Ydyn??? Do they just change depending where you are?

@LikeFliesAroundShit that sounds right, but Jason is the expert, and take anything he says as authoritative. Do and Naddo are yes and no to questions in the past tense - as in "Wnaethoch chi'r bwrdd ddoe ? Do." Which means " Did you make the table yesterday? Yes." Welsh doesn't really have simple yes/no answers, your answer has to incorporate the structure of the question. Just part of the fun of learning. Hwyl fawr.
