No Amendment was ever intended by the Framers to be without exception or need for some regulation. None are absolutes. You have the right to move freely about, unless, of course, you are on parole and must seek the consent of your parole officer, or if you are on a no fly list for some reason. Meanwhile he panicked everyone around him because his “level head” was not there in a time of stress. The reality is, even people with training (police etc) react poorly in times of stress. We don’t need untrained people pretending they are the Lone Ranger riding to the rescue who in effect get themselves and others hurt who might otherwise have been fine.🤷‍♀️ Also, it takes a lot to take a life of another human. There is no way that the authors of the 2nd amendment intended it to be interpreted the way it has been. “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State” - there is no longer a need for a “militia” to defend the state. Read the Militia Act of 1792. I was Passed by Congress and signed by President Washington six months after ratification of the 2nd Amendment. It was the 'regulations' called for by the 2nd Amendment. An example of the word in use is "no wife has the power to regulate her husband's life". The US Constitution was written 32 years later, and in all probability every single one of the men who wrote it and signed it had that book sitting in their library at home. Also, it is an amendment, it is not part of the original constitution. It was added at the request of a couple states so that they could retain their state militias. It should have been eliminated when the National Guard was formed. It wasn't because the National Guard was created in federal legislation, and amending the constitution is much harder than passing federal legislation.

There is no reason that a license that requires training to get a firearm and keep it isn't law. A vehicle is less dangerous then a firearm, yet we recognize that training is required to drive properly. Firearms are no different.

Many of them don't see the light. Uvalde is the Texas town with the horrific school shooting where the cops took forever to take action. Several months after the shooting, they voted against common sense gun restrictions. Despite losing children in their community to a 18 year old nutcase with an AR-15, they voted to let 18 year old nutcases continue to buy AR-15s. There are plenty of other examples of conservative families blaming anything but guns for their children's deaths. Now you'll find examples the other way too. There certainly are people who convert after it happens to someone close to them. But Uvalde is proof that many of them don't. That legislation was specifically crafted in response to Uvalde, and was designed to stop similar shootings in the future. And yet the town voted against it.

It would totally be a different story if all of us had been trained with weapons since we were very young. One of the Scandinavian countries does that, Sweden, I believe. I'm surrounded by gun owners, I live in a very rural area. Almost everyone hunts here. I think we need common Sense gun legislation for the simple fact that the leading cause of death in our children is gun violence. And I'm sorry but the woman who was going to visit her grandchildren's school with the gun should not be owning a gun. I know of no hunter that uses an assault rifle to hunt. When you hunt your shots have to be precise so you don't pierce certain areas that would release poisonous material which then goes throughout the meat. Ruining it. And that guy knew that as well. He was hoping no one else did.
