Grew up in Eastern Oklahoma, DEFINITELY a fly-over state. It's not as flat all over as people say though lol!! Central and Western OK is flat, but not Eastern OK. 🤣 Always cracks me up when I see people traveling here and they are so shocked at how different it is from what they expect.

Yeah and this song is just true. I grew up in Virginia and lived in East Texas(small town too but not really stereotypical flyover) for a few years but recently moved to Kansas for work. There's nothing like seeing the sunrise and sunset over the Plains and Flint Hills. The people are also the friendliest people I've ever met in my life(nothing against the others.) "Salt of the Earth" is the best way to describe the people out here. You don't know the true meaning of community until you live in a town of 100, 200 people in the middle of nowhere.

This song always brings me to tears, even ten years later. I moved from my hometown in Oklahoma to Alaska at 20 for the military. This song came out when I was up there and I still feel that ‘longing for home’ feeling when I hear it today, even though I’m now back in my hometown. Crazy to think that someone would miss this “flyover state” while they are in The Last Frontier with its mountains and vast, beautiful wilderness. There’s just something about my home that I wouldn’t trade for anywhere else the world ♥️ Thanks for sharing your reaction.. even if I disagree with your opinions because I love Jason and I also don’t hate Nickleback lol but to each their own. 😊

Oh great, now I can’t unhear Nickelback as well. Thanks for that! 😂 But the concept of the song sounds great. as a german Tourist we try to fly to the US at least once a year, but always to like the same 5 states. California, Florida, Nevada, Colorado and Tennessee. We lived in Michigan and drove to Ohio. But I wouldn’t want to spend my vacation there. And the one time I’ve been to Texas someone broke into the rental car and I spent days trying to get my passport replaced. Didn’t enjoy that experience much. 😂 Maybe we should consider travelling to or through flyover states. Never thought of it. And I can’t stand New York, Chicago or LA. 2 or 3 days and I’m done with these big cities. But I enjoyed your reaction. You guys make me laugh and I needed that today. So thank you.

The "Flyover states" have so much cool stuff to offer and enjoy. Personally, I stay out of America's bigger cities as a rule for a lot of reasons. But then, my recreational interests are either automotive, or nature-related, so, that fits. - Keith

Yeah, I love nature, but my husband thinks we have to visit at least one big city when we are over in the US. And the automotive interest I get, but to be honest, we are not flying to the US for your guys cars and highways. 😂 No offence, but the autobahn is more fun and German cars are a lot of fun as well. For next year we booked our flights already, but 2024 I will try to convince the family to go somewhere new. Maybe to do a road trip through a couple of flyover states. I like that idea a lot.

Well as a flyover state resident, I have to tell you, I'm a bit partial to them 🤣. BUT, I live in Oklahoma. We have a lot of hills (foothills of the Ozarks) in East OK, lot of lakes as well. In Central OK and Western OK, you get rolling plains or flatlands. Cities? We have 2 of any note, Tulsa and Oklahoma City. I love my state, but we don't get a LOT of tourists lol!! Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, even Arkansas get more. Arkansas is a beautiful state that doesn't get a lot of interest either. Anyway, I hope you and your family enjoy your trip this year! Me either lol. His crossroads with Bryan Adams was funny because Bryan called him out on singing rock and roll and the only thing about it that was country was the lyrics! I like the message of the song...the Americana nostalgia the being from a small town in the middle of nowhere. Your right tho that it would sound better remixed with more country roots. I think this was out around peak Nickleback time lmao and can see it now. I recommend Hicktown as a fellow WV hillbilly but will forewarn it too rocks rather twangs...but it’s fun.

Country music is ever changing if you watch Ken Burns recent Documentary the episodes start with the first days of radio in the 1920s and those musicians including The Carters ancestors of June Carter Cash up into the 1990s. I believe the entire series is here on KZbin in full episodes. It was originally shown on PBS. I’m enjoying seeing you interact and learn about our genre Some people don’t like the “New Stuff” I think it’s wonderful that our new stars are willing to make changes just like those first bands including Buddy Holly and The Crickets .

Jason Aldean and Luke Bryant are two sides of the same coin for me. Maybe I'm pretty, but I never could stand them, personally. And their appearances in hunting shows.. I vaguely remember Aldean missing an easy shot on a deer with his bow, from a ground blind. And I think he got to shoot a second time at it and made a bad spine shot. Never liked Luke Bryant's songs and his Kermit the Frog voice. I also vaguely remember reading a quote from him that sounded like he was talking down on either Waylon Jennings or the Outlaw genre of country.
