heeello, i m the owner of dc music school,and the producer of these videos. i m sad to see a lot of people bashing max. i stand by my decision of choosing max, an unknown player but in my opinion , the best expert on jason s style. max has been friends with jason for maybe 15 yrs now, has spent a lot of time with jason cataloguing and analyzing his music directly with jason and the master tapes that jason owns, another words, he has access to each isolated track of jason s music. at dc music school, i m motivated by my passion for sharing music and doing it right first and foremost.. money making is important for me too (and jason and max) but honesty, authenticity and passion come first...if i wanted to, i could ve gotten a famous guitarist to teach but i know for sure that no one else comes close as far as knowledge is concerned.. max is no slouch on the guitar either.. i m curious about people saying he s sloppy?! the signal is recorded dry, and i transcribed the parts myself,his playing is very clean and articulate. yes there are a few notes that could ve been cleaner here and there, but everyone makes mistakes, including jason himself back in the day.. finally consider this, this is the OFFICIAL instructional video approved by jason himself, he entrusted us to do the best job we can do, gave us full rights to everything within his legal control, would he do that if he didnt have faith in max? i thank jason from the bottom of my hurt for trusting me in my decision to use max. thank u for the people who purchased the lessons, one of my reasons for doing this was also to help jason financially as well.. so ur support helps him and helps me produce other lessons in the future

I'm SHOCKED by the majority of these replies. WTF. What Max is doing here is not only a musical gift, first to guitarists, then to other musicians and anyone else interested in Jason's music, technique, and modern electric guitar in general. Guitarists should have nothing but praise and thank-you's to Jason, Max, and DC Music. This was obviously a labor of love for Max, and THANKFULLY Jason agreed--he didn't have to. So, since so many who are making comments are totally off and on Planet Buttwart, I will do what anyone watching this should do, by saying: Thank you, Max, Jason, and Denis (DC Music) for presenting this awesome gift to guitar players and musicians anywhere and everywhere!

You can see his pure and very passionate love for the instrument in his eyes so clearly. In fact, you can see a lot in his eyes. It's similar to how a blind person hears more clearly than normal because that is how the world appears to them. Jason now communicates everything through his eyes, and they have become beautifully expressive as a result. Some of this is sad yea, I'm sure he misses playing, but some other of his talents have grown as a result. I think his compositions are deeper, and more soulful than ever now. If nothing else, Jason has become even more of an inspiration than ever before, because of his limitations. I'm certainly even more inspired by him now, and I was pretty blown away in 1988.

Big props to Max, first for doing the video, and then coming on here with all the rude comments, and not once being a troll. I can't speak for Max, but it is insanely humbling and frightening to have Jason ask you to play for him. I know, because I've been asked and it felt like I'd never picked up a guitar in my life. What was I going to play for this guy without being laughed out of the room? And, I've seen quite a few notable pros do the same thing. Good on you, Max!

Some of you people are just plain rude. First, if Jason didn't approve of any of this video, it wouldn't be online for you to see. Second, how exactly is Max an asshole? Have you met him? Did he do something to you, personally? He was invited to Jason's home and invited to play. And if you ever heard Jason's playing or heard his rig, it was raw and noisy. Sometimes, even Jason couldn't play his own stuff cleanly. So, unless you're in the know, just be quiet, click the thumbs-up or thumbs-down, and keep your ignorant opinions to yourself. Jason reads the comments and you totally bum him out by speaking poorly of him and his friends. Go make your own music before you talk smack.

Dejan Dejc From your "blah blah fast stuff, look at what I can do" seems that you are not happy with what you could get from the content. And that is based on what YOU can find on the lessons, if you don't look from high enough you can't see too much, and to see High Enough you really need to get sometime for yourself to climb some steps. Jason's Stuff is pretty HIGH LEVEL both from composition and playing capabilities, don't expect ONE DvD to teach you all the process, It can't even be aimed to Beginners, so it dosen't even need to be "easy" enough from their grasp.
@denischang110410 жыл бұрын
Dejan Dejc i'm sorry you feel that we did a lousy job, but the truth is, we planned this for a year, and divided the lessons into 3 distinct categories. Maybe you feel that you don't like the way Max speaks, he is definitely a quirky fellow, but to me that's just his personality. the goal of these lessons is to teach the students the concepts that Jason used in his playing, and from there you apply these concepts to your own playing. We showed the video to Jason as well, here is his email to me "[...]I just saw the couple clips that Denis sent, and I think you both kicked ass together! I am so proud of you guys and am so grateful. I think you look, sound and talk great, Max, and Denis, you are a fantastic editor! I think you both taught people how to "fish," rather than giving them a few lame licks. " These videos are not for hardcore beginners, they are for intermediate/advanced players who are interested in the intricacies of jason's actual playing style.

I so rarely comment on these types of videos, but some of what I'm reading is just bizarre and catty. First off, Max is doing a great job on Serrana. The complaint about him being a bad teacher... seriously, if you don't hear each of these arpeggios, mostly just triads, and immediately determine "major," or "minor," etc, then you're attempting to play above your depth. I don't want a bunch of wasted time with Max explaining each arpeggio, and the techniques of sweeping and hammers and pulls... I want a proven "this is exactly the fingerings I used" from Jason. Isn't that EXACTLY what this is? Jason, in his own words, and with his own fingers, taught his concepts for preferred fingerings and picking techniques, in his previous release. This one is filling in a gap in the market, and is officially from Jason--it's not some assholes taking advantage of him. Why don't you lighten up, be thankful that he did this with ANYONE, and cheer everyone on. Then go and practice.

I can't see more than one minute of this video. My friend Jason, a brilliant musician and human being in the predicament he's in. I just clicked to see if that was the Ibanez anniversary guitar I have. Friggin love you, always man-stay strong.

Man, I wish I could hang out with Jason. He is a mad cool genius. He can play better with his eyes, than I can with my entire body. The dude is just made of music. Breaks my heart that he can't play anymore.

If you cant follow this you should pick up a different instrument like piano that has everything written down. EVERYTHING even the duration and speed of the notes, the tempo and the tone you have to use

He seems to be in good spirits!! We have here in Finland our multiplayer/ musician producer ; Pave Maijanen whom got ALS and very rapidly lost his playing skills and now in 1- year after diagnose he is now in not so good shape. Prayers to Mr.Becker( he is my age!!) And all whom suffer this sickness.

Studio produced music is EXTREMELY processed, also each take is the perfect one after probably 500 takes beforehand. For someone to pull this out, first take potentially without possibly hours upon hours of preparation is a testament to SERIOUS talent. How anyone is disputing this in the comments is quite ridiculous.

Why? He's giving a demo not recording an album. If anything; you get a noise gate for when youre playing it.
