This video really broke my heart. I remember in the 80s when I lived in California, I had his phone number because somebody said he was giving lessons. I called, his mom answered, she was so damn sweet and kind, but I guess he wasn’t home. I never started taking lessons from him because his immense talent intimidated the hell out of me. But I’ve been following him all these years, have bought all of his albums, and I’m really amazed that he never gave up. Jason, thank you so much for everything you have done for this planet. I'm working as an occupational therapist with patients which live in vegetative state. Some deeper some don't. Jason's will to live and his music gets me so deep. I once saw a clip of Jason Becker like a year ago or 2 years ago where a cat jumped on his Lap. I have 2 cats for 7 years now and i can tell that cats only jump on the Laps of kind people that have warm and honest hearts. So that short clip brought a tear to my eyes.

Not only he was an excellent guitarplayer before his disease,he's a brilliant composer now that his motorics are reduced to the very minimum...close to zero. Imagine how much mental force you need to find just to accept the reality of a situation, that is somehow the analogy of being burried alive...and there's no return. How much convinction day by day to not let go and the immense amount of affection and help by his family , friends and others... Unbelievable... The physically sane people should be so greatful of what they have been given.....because we have to be aware of the fact,that the line betwee health and irreversible damage is thin...even if it doesn't look like. The construction of our body is so complexe, that a slight fail of a function can determine a whole lifetime. To me Jason is a real hero. A role model of spiritual strength..

Jason himself without a doubt is the true definition of inspiration. It’s a fact that Roth has had some of the best guitarists in the business play for him. i took lessons from Marty Friedman in the early 80's back when he was in Hawaii. This was before he met Jason Becker and formed Cacophony. Marty was a perfectionist and kind of aloof but he was a good teacher. From what I've seen in videos and interviews Jason comes off as a real laid back and fun individual so I can see how the group worked as they complimented each other both musically and as individuals.
