I have lost track of how many times now I've listened to this one track just to hear JPJ play those two notes with his left hand to open this number. "Over to you Mr. Jones." It sets the tempo and is the under lying theme for the whole song. I have no idea what Plant is singing as that theme dominants so much. It's about a car yeah, but I just want to hear those two notes over and over again. That's one song I don't mind getting stuck in my head!
@MrMysteriosguy6 жыл бұрын
I feel the same way! Those first two notes are super hypnotizing. The way those first two notes don't have any backing but carry so much groove is simply great but as you said it also has to do with laying the foundation for the entire song.

@moneybagshastings22476 жыл бұрын
I didn't like that one because of Plant's removal of most of the words and just the rhythmic "love" that he places at the beginning.
@zoso19806 жыл бұрын
No. That's the 'we're playing it safe' version. Plus any version without John Bonham cannot be the "BEST" of any Zep song. You are just talking silly. The O2 had that dreadful tempo drag and Jason's somewhat lame fills. The 02's chemistry doesn't hold a candle to the real band rolling tight but loose.
@dortega125 жыл бұрын
With the years I dislike more and more the O2 concert they played too safe and the low tuned songs didn’t worked well. They are nice renditions of some songs but globally they should had reformed around the end of the 90’s when Page was in super form even better that some shows of the late 70’s.

[If there's a hero in Trampled Under Foot, it's Zeppelin's singer, Robert Plant, portrayed as the light to Page's darkness. His discomfort with what the band became is evident, intensified after the death of his five-year-old son in July 1977. But still, across page after page, one can't help but think: he was there, why didn't he do something? It's a point made by someone present at one of the most notorious incidents in the band's history, when a security guard was twice badly beaten up backstage at a gig in Oakland: "Plant seemed like the only decent human being there, although there were no innocents. There were no innocents."]

What’s strange is that I’d say as time went on the first half of their careers songs got worse as time went on live, but the second half, as t8me went on, they got better. This is an example of that. This is better than the 75 and 77 versions.

they sound better on this song than both in 75 and 77. speaking candidly some of these concerts they did not play well and sounded sloppy. Mainly because of Jimmy's using heroin and Robert getting the flu and losing his voice. Here they are very well rehearsed and Roberts voice is really good here. Powerful. Of course JPJ keyboards and bass playing at same time are outstanding, Led Zeppelin at their best. Great drum sound. Everyone playing well.
