normally i don't like car chases in movies. But GOD, the Bourne series team really know how to make a fucking good scene. The music, manouvers, tension.....everything!

Shaky cam has got to be one of the worst "innovations" to occur in cinema.
@FireAngelOfLondon29 күн бұрын
Yeah, it's a very effective technique when it is used appropriately, but most of the time it is used to make shooting cheaper and hide poor fight choreography or other cheap-out lazyness.

We need another Bourne movie before Matt Damon gets too old.
@Michaelzehr29 күн бұрын
I don't particularly like shaky cam, but in the original novels the reader never quite knows what's going on. The reader is kept off balance, and this helps recreate that for the viewer. Again, i completely understand the criticism, but it is somewhat true to the feel of the books.

In These Movies it was good, in most others it’s trash
@Michaelzehr27 күн бұрын
@@wingthomaux I agree with that. As with anything it should be a creative or artistic decision. It can cover up poor fight choreography or acting too, and gets overused in some films where, as you say, it's trash.

Is it just me or is the idea of shaking camera just something the film producers came up as the new best thing but viewers don’t really appreciate?

It was the director Paul Greengrass's technique of choice at that time (see "Bloody Sunday"). One of the reasons they chose him for this movie.

It works. Much more dramatic effect compared with past cinematography. Best you stick to old black and whites

Pretty sure Kubrick started it in Strangelove, but it was only during a scene of heavy machine gun fire. Today it is done to the point of motion sickness.

It saves a lot of money an covers all the mistakes. A lazy choice, in my honest opinion.

I'm sorry but I HATED the Paul Greengrass Bourne films...loved the character, loved the story, but HATE the shaky Cam! I can't watch your movie if I can't SEE your movie because I'm closing my eyes so I don't get a headache. In real life when you run or move quickly your Brain adjusts instantly and steadies the image. You can't make that adjustment visually when the camera does that. That's why the action in the John Wick films was so refreshing to watch. You were a WITNESS to the action not an unwilling participant. The camera shouldn't be a character in the film. Rant over.

Chase scenes are lazy fillers, by movie makers who don't have enough plot for a real story. The good parts of this movie take up about 25 minutes. The rest is fluff.
