I am surprised you guys do the show but have very little information. Pep coached in Barcelona 2008-2012 he did not coach all 15 years MESSI played. Ferguson, Pelligerini,Jose,Ancelotti, Zidane, Allegri, Benitez. Except Zidane all these coaches either won UCL or reached UCL without Ronaldo. The way you judge a player is not what they became when the player joins, what they became when the player leaves. Can they feel the void and replace him with someone and how long it will take? Messi has gone through multiple transitions of Barcelona squads. Ronaldinho, eto’o era. Henry Ibra era. Villa Pedro era. Suarez Neymar era. Braithwaite era 😂 and kept Barca at the top throughout. Everyone who knows football knows how difficult squad and manager transitions are.. look at Liverpool this season, United since fergie left. Messi made all those transitions seem seamless. Messi played in one of the greatest versions of teams ever, but in a lot of mediocre ones too. We all saw what happened to Barca when Messi left. Went from winning the Copa Del Rey and finishing 2nd, to fighting for a champions league spot the very next season. In my opinion that needs to be something that demonstrates how good Messi is, instead of an argument against him. Ronaldo didn’t stick around to help united through a transition. Ronaldo was at Madrid with their new galacticos until they all got too old and left. And went to Juve, who were top of Serie A for years. Yes, Ronaldo has won it everywhere - that’s insane. But has he carried mediocre squads through tough times? No. The “he’s done it everywhere” argument alone doesn’t mean Ronaldo is outright better. Staying in a league for 17 years, going through multiple squad and managerial changes (some of them absolute shocking btw) and still carrying those teams and making them look a lot better than they actually were, that’s really difficult too. I don’t think any other player in history could have done that. Consistently making teams a lot better just by him being there. Look at this Argentina squad, position for position they are no where near the strongest team. Yet they beat a fantastic Brazil squad to the Copa America in 2020 and are in the WC final. He has 7 goal contributions this WC, and look at the quality of his GCs. Penalties aside, brilliant goal against Australia, out of this world assists against NED and Croatia. He is the GOAT.

If you are taking a player of a WC final in sunday game in his prime, you take the 2012 Messi anyday. Look at Messi again in International stage, the teammates he played with in 2014 WC and some of Argentina’s Copa America teams. Most of his teammates were barely a starter for their respective clubs!! They still managed to play multiple finals because of Messi. (Argentina, Lionel Messi are so big that you don't see a team being second in a tournament as a success. You expect more and rightly so, because its Lionel Messi). As a 55 yr old ex footballer, I remember like yesterday, watching Maradona win the Cup in 1986. His 5 gls + 5 assists won him the golden ball. He was magic. But Messi, doing it against tougher opposition, and with today's talent, broke 7 WCup records while winning it. Nobody is like Messi. Messi makes it look easy. Also, sometimes the best player is the one who stays and repeats excellence in spite of ups and downs at the club. It's easier to find motivation when you're part of a new project every few years. I’ve seen both play too and I still think it’s Maradona. Watched loads of videos of Pele too when I was younger and he was phenomenal aswell. I don't think that Messi is better than Maradona, but if he wants us to compare with Diego, he has to win the world cup final. Moreover, I'm a huge fan of CR7, but I supported Argentina more than ever in order to defeat Croatia in semi-finals. Messi has done a great campaign with his Argentina national football team winning tough teams, so that's why his team deserves to get to the final with France, which is the current champion of the world.

Messi carried Barca for years ,you people haven’t been paying attention as the English PL snobs rarely look outside their precious league .Messi outshined CR in la liga every season he was there ,CR left Man U because he was booed in every ground in UK and he left Madrid cos the fans were ungrateful for what he did ,he didn’t leave when he was happy .Why doesn’t anyone use the same standards with Giggs never leaving Man U when talking about players supposed greatness?

Pele, Maradona, Cruyff, Messi, Zidane , R9, Henry, Laudrup - these guys are absolute artists. They are what kids today call 'ballers'. Ronaldo, van Nistelrooy, van Basten, Lewandowski are goal machines but inferior understanding of the rest of the game than the first group.

Cristiano is right up there. Messi fans tend to underrate him but he's every bit as good as all the names you mentioned up there. I really don't understand why people have to choose one. Both these guys are monsters and deserve every respect.

@@yogi2983 no body is saying cristiano is not one of the greatest ever. We are just saying that between the top names and bottom names there is a major difference. The names on the top those player have a natural feel and a very high football iq what I mean by this is that they have an understanding of how to control an entire game by themselves. For example if you look at Cristiano and Messi we can easily see that Messi has a natural ability that is just a level above. He can create chances run a games by himself that’s the reason he has an insane number of assists and chances created per game. On the other hand Cristiano doesn’t do that he’s a pure goal scorer don’t get me wrong he is great at assists as well it’s just that he can’t control the game the way Messi can.
